My reason for being a member at Mt Hood Athletic Club is to strive to be the best athlete I can be. Fitness has become a way of life through the process of my weight loss journey. In April 2010, I realized that I was truly unhappy with my reflection and I was ready to make a change. My journey began with following the Weight Watchers program and incorporating extensive exercise into my daily routine. When I reflect on my weight loss journey thus far I am still in disbelief about the transformation I have made with my body through my life style changes. Since the start of my weight loss journey I have lost a total of 65 pounds. I love being a member for many reasons, from the staff at the front desk to the trainers and the fitness instructors. I enjoy attending the fitness classes and being surrounded by people who enjoy working out. Since I have been a member I have met amazing people who I admire and call my friends. With their commitment to be there every day at 5a.m. it not only encourages me, but also holds me accountable to my daily workout routine. The club has opened many doors for me and has led me to discover a passion for running. Since being a member I have medaled in numerous running events; which include 8ks, 10ks, half marathons, obstacles races, and the famous Hood to Coast.
Health and fitness is important to me and my family. We come to this club at least five days a week. Exercise is a major factor in staying healthy. Between running our Financial Business full-time and raising two beautiful children, there isn’t a lot of time to exercise. A local hometown gym makes that easy. With great staff and local members, Mt Hood Athletic Club is a place we can feel at home. Mt Hood Athletic Club is a small town gym with big city amenities. It seems incredible to me that a small town like Sandy could support a gym of this caliber. Mt Hood Athletic Club has weights, pool, hot tub, cardio, basketball and racquetball courts, three group exercise rooms, and even pool table with a lounge area! I don’t think the folks in Sandy realize how blessed they are to have a gym this nice in their town. I grew up in Sandy, my business is here, and I get to work out just two minutes from my office and five minutes from my house
I’ve been married for almost 30 years; have three children and four grand babies. My grand babies are my reason for being here at Mt. Hood Athletic Club. They’re very young and active, and I need to keep up with them as they grow. My husband and youngest son are also very active. They love to ski and hike, so I want to keep up with them as well. I love working with my Personal Trainer, Media. She helps me work towards my fitness goals. I also really enjoy the classes offered at the club, particularly Zumba. The Zumba instructors make class so much fun. I enjoy that the club has so many community events. I love to participate and to volunteer. I guess I just love being here!
MHAC has become an essential part of my life. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for having the opportunity to attend the club. I know that I was the one that had to put in the hard work, dedication, and commitment, however, I would not be where I am today if I had not joined the club. I would like to thank MHAC, the staff, and members for supporting me throughout my weight loss journey.
