Looking back at Taipei City's history of urban development, from the time of the Qing Dynasty to the construction of the city of Taipei, the concept of the city gradually began to develop. During the Meiji era, Taipei City began to introduce some modern planning. Up to now, with different districts in different urban projects, but with a variety of looks. Under the development and changes of various periods, different urban heterogeneous spaces have been formed because of policies, history, geomorphology or political factors.

Michel Foucault (1926-1984) proposed a concept of heterogeneous space in a speech titled "Of Other Places." Through a series of thoughts, it is a dialectic of what is meant by what is not a place. The field itself changes from non-local to local, or it should be a place of commemorative space, but it is used in the use of non-local use. Is it a local or non-local place to place non-local functions in old places? The distinction between Place and Non-Place lies in its relationship with the surrounding environment. Today's Taipei City is composed of a variety of large and small heterogeneous spaces. These urban heterogeneous spaces exist in opposition to each other, but they are also quite close to each other.

My base was selected in the Xinyi project area. In the historical development of the Taipei city, from the early settlements such as the early Bangka, Dadaotun, to the Taiwan Governor's Office in the Japanese occupation period, the city center has been located in the West District, 1949 After the National Government moved to Taiwan, A large number of military and civilians have entered the city of Taipei, which has impacted the plan for the future urban development of Taipei during the Japanese occupation. In the Xinyi Commercial center, through the intervention of super block and sidewalks, people can easily shuttle in the city but there is no activity on these sidewalks, and most activities are centered in buildings. Compared with the urban development in Taipei, the original street of the city is the location where the activity took place.

Today's Taipei City is composed of various heterogeneous spaces, large and small. The presidential government special zone, which has been specialized by political factors, is isolated from the Seiko Island because of its geographical environment and national policies. These urban heterogeneous spaces exist opposite each other, but they are closely linked to each other. The current situation in the Taipei City Government consists of a total of 34 large and small bureaus, which provide public participation through regular and irregular activities. There is a Taipei story house inside the city for people to visit, and most of the rest are going to the public to use the city function. Therefore, the relationship between the people of the municipal government is not very close.

Heterotopia is a real space. In this heterogeneous space, people can use the contrast between the real world and this space as the cornerstone of mainstream reality dialogue or contrast criticism. If the existence of the heterotopia is explained by the mirror principle, the shadow in the mirror is not true, but the mirror itself is a real subject. Through the mirror, the relationship between the mirror and the surrounding environment can be found. That is, the mirror is Enter the entrance to another space. -Michel Foucault

In the Xinyi Plan District, the Taipei City Government and the city's former square are very special places. For citizens, the city's government offices are not easy to use. In addition to special events such as road runs or New Year's Eve It will only gather a large number of people outside the tide. Usually there is no people to use. For the Xinyi Planning District, if people from the shopping mall come here from this side, they must bypass the square and the city government to reach their original destination, which is quite inconvenient. Therefore, it's a heterogeneous space in a heterogeneous space.

This is an internal agency of the municipal government, but people can still reach. This space that surrounds the sky, the light ring has its own coating. This ring surrounds the entire region, which means that the government and the people are closely linked. The points scattered throughout the region are skylights.Light enters the interior on all sides, and light energy passes through the skin and all heights. The single path used to correspond to the original vertical level is a new mesh path that clings to the landscape. It connects the external roads and allows people to travel as easily as a park The contours of the city are connected in series by the green space; like recasting the Green, the two Greens are constrained and melted into the new Green throughout the district.. With slow ups and downs, people are inadvertently introduced into the space they need. Indirect but set, suddenly entering the space.

First, I first divide the internal depar tment of the municipal g o ve r n m e n t i n to t w o pa r t s . O n e is more like the department in the city, such as the secretariat and the personnel depar tment, and the other part is related to the public. Departments such as bureaus. In the operation of the design, the two different kinds of departments mentioned above are separated and reconfigured, and finally the whole design is divided into seven parts. Therefore, in the whole design, it is necessary to connect the bases in a horizontal way through the relatively high-density and high-strength forest buildings, so that the originally disappearing streets are very daily life patterns, returning to this base, trying Let the divisions gather at the different points and move the most vertically to the surface.

And use all of these works to develop the living units and the housing. I start to studying the geometry. I use triangle, square, hexagon and octagon to do aggregations in 2D. I found that octagon is different form the other geometr y, however octagon compose ,it will leave a void. I think this feature is so interesting. So I start to do different combination of octagon.

In these two versions, I use it's 2D property to do different units. In the first version, I took 1, 2 and 3 octagons to put together to make it into S, M and L sizes. I dissconstructed them, adjusted its' edges, and then reorgnized them in steps 2, 3 and 4. In the end, I did some variety to its' facad. In the second version, I scales octagons, put them into different layers and lofted them. And also did some variety to its' facade.

After 2D study,I started to do it in 3D. I used different SECTION but same PLAN in octagon to define the geometry and tried to stack them together. I found that only the geometry that both plan & section are octagon has the property of octagon itself even in 3D. So I choose it as the prototype of my house units. In this version, I used this geometry to do the units, and it can aggregate into two different way. I used the verb "melt" to define it when different units compose together.

About the octagon. like what I said, I'm interesting in the void of its’ aggregation. Cause when we talk about the void in architectures, it means a outdoor place that people where can interact, and also a chance that light can get in. So what I want to do is to make maximal light get into my house unit. So I start to cut the geometry and turn it’s section into curve. Cause a curve on can let light spread out indoors. After try different way to aggregate the prototype of my units(different aggregation & different scale… So this is what my units look like. And I set my housing units as a forest research station. Relative to a normal box house, my unit is easy to put into a forest but not to cause damage. And due to its' form, it can let trees grow along with it.

Its' structure is aluminum frame with FRP panel. So it would be light enough to be transpor ted into any forest. When it send to somewhere, it can also be assembled easily. So it will not spend too much human resources. Its' floors are suspension floors, so whatever the terrain is, it can adjust to horizontal. It can also easy to change its' floors depending on the use of different load. So this structure system is quite suitable for forests research stations.

"Museums are operated by nonprofits and for-profits, they fixed for the public to save, interpretation and display." This is the definition of museums from the American Alliance of Museums. A museum as a museum, it should interpretation for the public. But in histor y, all the famous modern art museums even if the exhibitions inside are wonderful, the architectures outside are so closed. So what we wanted to do is to open it, to make it closer to the public. We chose Taipei Fine Arts Museum as our site is because we wanted our design as an experiment. As an experiment, it should be an architecture that is indicator.

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum is a museum in Zhongshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. It is in the Taipei Expo Park. The museum first opened on August 8, 1983, at the former site of the United States Taiwan Defense Command. It was the first museum in Taiwan built for contemporary art exhibitions. The architecture is a local adaption of the Japanese Metabolist Movement. From 1984 until 1990, the Taipei Fine Ar ts Museum's most prestigious event was the "Trends of Modern Art in the R.O.C.". This was a biennial exhibition which promoted Chinese modernity in art and mostly invited artists with a R.O.C. passport or equivalent ancestry. This national, competition style, exhibition was replaced in 1992 by the Taipei Biennial and the Taipei Prize.

So, in the first I studied in camera work. Camera work include view, camera shot, camera angel and how it works. I used these studies to decide how to design the interface. It includes to decide how to watch, who is watching and who is being watched, sizes of lens, depth and angle of cameras and the iterface is visual or invisble.

I started to study in viewers in museums. I found that there are 3 different kinds of viewers in museum, the viewers, the viewers inside and the viewers outside."The viewers" are those who are focus on artworks. "Viewers inside" are those who are watching others in museums. And "viewer s outside" is those who want ot enter museums and watch people inside museums through windows. I also do some studies that through "camera shot", what will it look like in these 3 different kinds of viewers in museums. What I wanted to do is to through the facade of the intervention, so that the museum from outside to inside, the relationship between the viewer and the viewer has been in the conversion. And then outside, will lead to the internal; in the internal, will lead to the next place.

What I wanted to do is to make the plaza into a recreation landscape. I started to study activites on this site. And then based on these activities, I drew several sections in horizontal and vertical. I use these sections to loft in Rhino and make it as its landscape. To creat a "recreation landscape" is because that I want that when this market is closed, people can still come here to have fun, so it would not trun into an useless place.

Multipurpose Religious Place

The religion I chose is Taoism. Taoism is a religious or philosophical tradition of Chinese origin which emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao. The Tao is a fundamental idea in most Chinese philosophical schools; in Taoism, however, it denotes the principle that is the source, pattern and substance of everything that exists. Taoism differs from Confucianism by not emphasizing rigid rituals and social order. Taoist ethics vary depending on the particular school, but in general tend to emphasize "wu wei", "naturalness", simplicity, spontaneity, and the Three Treasures: "compassion", "frugality", and "humility". 《道德經》 fig.01

I will be divided into two kinds of internal and external line, the internal line used to walk in the internal, while the external line is used to up and down. In each plane will have two semi-outdoor space, followed by clockwise turn to each floor. The cube left side is for the religious space, and the pyramid right side is the entrance of the residents activities. When people want to enter the religious space, you must first down to the ground floor to enter it.The main space on the ground floor is the residents, including the activities of space and multifunctional restaurant.
