beyond the beauty with
lindsey shapiro “national miss north carolina” Lindsey Shapiro
is a rising junior at Appalachian State University, majoring in cell/molecular biology with a minor in chemistry. She is considered a leader on campus who enjoys volunteer work, conducting Alzheimer’s research and running half marathons for charity. She is a proud member and senior risk management chair of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and is founder/president of the Rho Lambda Chapter at A.S.U. — a Greek Society recognizing women who demonstrate outstanding leadership. She is a Plemmons Leadership Fellow, a member of Gamma Beta Phi honor society, Heltzer’s Honors Program, Biology Departmental honors, and has been named to the dean’s list every semester of her college career; she maintains a 3.39 GPA while working 20 hours a week during the school year. She is publicity editor of the international, neuroscience journal, IMPULSE, and is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association, Boys and Girls Club of America, and the Humane Society. She loves exercising and rock climbing on the Blue Ridge Parkway. And, Lindsey is a beauty queen who was recently crowned “National Miss North Carolina” —and the only one representing our state.
