WHEN LIBERTY HAS THE BALL Josh Woodrum is the only Liberty quarterback to throw a pass this season. He is 109-for178 for 1,544 and 11 touchdowns with five interceptions. He threw an 86-yard touchdown pass to Darrin Peterson, who has 45 receptions for 709 yards and five TDs this season. D.J. Abnar leads the Flames in rushing with 493 yards and five touchdowns in 87 carries. Todd Macon has 207 yards and three touchdowns. WHEN APP STATE HAS THE BALL The Mountaineers lean on a passing game led by quarterback Taylor Lamb. The redshirt freshman has completed 81-of-136 passes with five touchdowns and four interceptions. Lamb’s favorite target is receiver Simms McElfresh, who has 26 receptions for 248 yards and four touchdowns. Malachi Jones has caught 17 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. The Mountaineers’ passing game relies more on ball-control instead of throwing deep. Montez McGuire has the highest yards per catch average (13.2) for receivers who have caught 10 or more passes. McGuire has 12 receptions, including a long of 27 yards. Marcus Cox, a sophomore, leads the Appalachian State rushing attack with 335 yards and five touchdowns on 71 carries. Cox was
