After squeaking by ULM to start 1-1 in Sun Belt play, App State will have to tighten up overall when they face rival Coastal Carolina on a Tuesday night in Boone. With multiple turnovers in the last two games, the offense has to keep the ball under control. With Grayson McCall having really only two receiving targets so far this year, the defense should look for a heavy run game if the cornerbacks can lock the passing game up. Also look for a running back other than Nate Noel to start to get some more carries. The rotation against ULM proved useful to give Noel a break on the sideline so expect Maquel Haywood or another back to get the ball more.

When Coastal Carolina University has the ball: Grayson McCall only has six touchdowns and six interceptions to start the year. This is a Coastal Carolina team that always comes in playing hot when facing App State and don’t expect anything less than that on Tuesday night. Being 0-2 in conference, CCU would love nothing more than to get their first win against App State as these two teams have battled back-and-forth the last few years. With no real running threat, expect multiple backs to try and wear down the App State defensive line throughout the game.
