When Appalachian State has the ball Quarterback Joey Aguilar has solidified himself as the starter for App State. With 449 yards and six touchdowns, Aguilar is a threat in the air but can also do it with his legs, as he has 50 rush yards on nine attempts. Coming off a 2OT loss to the then No. 17 ranked UNC Chapel Hill, the Mountaineers will look to win big in what is expected to be a huge — potentially record-breaking — crowd. With a rivalry that began in 1932, App State will look to beat ECU for the second time in three years after winning 19-33 at Bank of America Stadium in 2021. Look for Aguilar to continue to air it out while running back Nate Noel continues to pound the gridiron and eat up major yardage.
When ECU has the ball ECU is coming off of two pretty bad losses to start the season against No. 2 Michigan and Marshall. Coming into Kidd Brewer Stadium, the in-state foe will look to avenge their defeat in 2021. ECU will have to have better play from quarterback Mason Garcia. With only 21 of 41 completed passes and two interceptions, Garcia has to figure it out against a tough App State secondary if ECU has any chance. ECU running backs will also have to find the endzone against App State, as none have a touchdown this season.
