With four straight wins — one of them being against then No. 18 JMU — App State is on a roll going into the season’s final game. A lot is on the line for the 7-4 Mountaineers, as a win and a Coastal Carolina loss means App State will play in the Sun Belt Championship game. A loss at home against their rivals Georgia Southern means App State ends the season 7-5 and no Sun Belt Championship. The good thing for the Mountaineers is that they are on a roll. Joey Aguilar continues to impress as he nears 3,000 yards on the season. The running game slowed down a bit against JMU’s top rushing defense, but expect the Mountaineers to go back to their bread and butter on the ground back at The Rock. The rivalry always proves to be a good game, and the Mountaineers will come in with a bit of extra motivation on Senior Day and a championship game berth on the line.
When Georgia Southern has the ball:
Georgia Southern would love to play the role of spoiler for App State on Senior Day in Boone. While App State needs a little help from JMU against Coastal Carolina, if Georgia Southern beats App State, they will be knocked out of the Sun Belt Championship game. With this rivalry proving to bring out the best in both teams, the game will be good. Davis Brin has already surpassed 3,000 yards for the season, so look for Georgia Southern to go for the deep ball regularly against the Mountaineers.
