When Appalachian State has the ball App State is coming off a homecoming win against a now 1-7 Southern Miss team, and for a while, it looked as if the Mountaineers were headed to another close loss. Pulling out the win for App State was vital as they were coming off of two losses and were last in the Sun Belt. With some momentum, the Mountaineers will look to beat their old foe Marshall during a night game at Kidd Brewer Stadium that airs on the NFL Network. The secondary needs to improve in the week leading up to Saturday as, like in previous games, the Mountaineers gave up some big plays in the air. Look for a focus on defense and QB Joey Aguilar to continue his excellent inaugural season against Marshall.
When Marshall has the ball Marshall is coming off of a bad loss (34-6) to Coastal Carolina and will look to rebound against App State. Like other teams, Marshall will try and expose the App State secondary with plays through the air. With a stud running back in Rasheen Ali, The Thundering Herd will also try and get him going against a Mountaineer team that gave up 301 rushing yards to Southern Miss — 247 to one player. The old rivalry will once again be renewed, and it’s almost a guarantee it will be a good game.
