Beyond the built form is where the essence of architecture lies for me. I believe more in for whom we are designing rather than what we are designing. It’s a great sense of responsibililty and joy, not just to understand and respond to time and space but also to cater to the emotions of the people interacting with the space. Apart from exploring the realms of mainstream architecture, I also take interest in associated fields such as landscape, interior, and furniture design.

Thesis: Conservatory for Indian Classical Music
Abstract Indian classical music, like any other genre of music has seen tremendous change over time in terms of how it is taught, learnt or simply the way one listens to it. Today, most of the prominent establishments in the field of Indian classical music produce artists who do become good teachers and listeners but rarely go on to become artists who create their own niche or help the art grow into something greater. The origin of Indian classical music can be traced back to the Vedas, the time when music was a form of meditation, a gateway to spirituality. The gurukul system came in around the same time, the medium of imparting knowledge was sound and the two primary pillars on which the system stood was the relationship of the “guru” and “shishya.” Indian classical music art has grown on the roots of the “guru-shishya paramara” which has become a way of life for many. This age old system has the essence with which one can lay a strong foundation and understanding of the art and inspire them to further delve into it, create their own niche or even take the art to an entirely new direction. In an age where Indian classical music is witnessing constant evolution, it is necessary to establish a space which works as a symbiotic system to honour the rich history of the art and gives room for further growth.
Objectives • • •
1
To understand the complexities and challenges of the guru-shishya relationship in the capitalist society of 21st century. To understand the principles of learning in architecture and capture it the form of a gurukul system. To establish an archive to experience and store records, labels and other relevant artefacts.

Brigade Road, BLR: An Urban Design Study
Briga de
Road
Brigade Road is one of the biggest commercial centres and busiest shopping areas of Bengaluru, the state capital of Karnataka, India. It is also a connecting road between the M G Road and Residency Road and Museum road in the city.
Density And Built To Unbuilt Study:
Commercial Spaces
Residential Clusters
Public / Semi Public Spaces
Church Street : Wider avenue, frequent pause points.
Rest House Road : Vast open spaces.
Mayo Hall : Adequate setbacks, periphery & open spaces used for parking.
Brigade Road : Densly packed frontage leaves no space for pause points.
Makram Road : Dense living spaces with little and sparse open spaces.
St Patricks Church Vast foreground, open space generally used for parking.
There is a vast variation between similar built use spaces; usually determined by its typology. Yet, some similarities are also found.
Land Use 2005-2015
Land Use 1995-2005
Radial trend change in land use is evident. As one travels outward from a primary road, the density of commercial LANDspaces USE spaces reduces and the density of residential LAND LEGENDUSE increases. LEGEND
The nature of land use is directly connected to the land value. The higher the land value, higher is the density of commercial spaces.

The vision is to make Brigade Road a place which reminds you of your aspirations as well as your legacy. To be able to look into the future, it is necessary that we respect the past. Brigade Road must be made more welcoming to people from a wider economic spectrum, it needs to be decongested and to make sure it is not completely deprived of its residential spaces. Places with heritage value can better adapted and reused in such a manner that it becomes welcoming for the masses. The fabric of the road can begin to involve people in more number of ways such that there’s a greater level of interaction with the space and the activities taking place there. Brigade Road holds the potential of being a place where block parties happen in the evening and heritage walks take place in the mornings. Data Refered: RMP for BDA LPA-2031 (Draft): Proposed Heritage Zone 4 M.G. Road Heritage Zone Built Heritage
Mechanism Of Change The heritage buildings on the M.G Road have strong east west axis that is active and preserved. The intention was to active the north-south axis and preserve the heritage buildings on the this axis. Heritage buildings on the brigade road, residency road and Museumroad form interesting nodes of different character.
War Memorial Junction Primary stakeholders: 1. Students 2. Residents 3. Employees/Employers 4. Shoppers
The heritage structures around the war memorial junction give a tremendous opportunity to revive these junction as an active commercial node and transform it into a public space.
Museum Road- Residency Road Junction Primary stakeholders: 1. Students 2. Working Class
This entire zone of institutions gives us an oppurtunity to create a public space for the students and establish and educational and youth centric hub.
Mayo Hall Junction Primary stakeholders: 1. Clerks 2. Shoppers
Mayo hall junction is mainly used as a transitional node , it has the potential to become a business hub with apporpriate programes supporting the node.

Internship at Studio 4000 Studio 4000 is an architectural design consultancy firm based out of Ahmedabad. Lead by the principals, Smit Vyas and Khushboo Vyas, the studio is a closely knit space. I got the opportunity to indulge in the design process across various sclaes ranging from furniture design till architectural design.
The time spent at studio 4000 have been some of the most enriching and memorable for me. Every new day came with new challenges, new ways to fumble and eventually, find suitable solutions. This experience has helped me understand what it takes to run an architectural practice and moreover, how to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Understanding Of The Space Created And Inserting A Programme : The space is to appeal any community which loves thrill and adventure. The sense of excitement created here is welcoming for the people looking to live life on the edge. The movement around the space is packed with rising and falling of energy levels. Hence, the creation of Riders’ Club. Developing A Suitable Context : To directly respond to the programme of a “Riders’ Club” and the the building language, the most suitable setting for this project would be at the mountains. I visualise the club to be located at the foothill of Nandi Hills in Bengaluru. It is an absolute favourite location for a lot of bike enthusiasts to take a drive over the weekend and this club could serve as perfect pause point.

Mass and Void This exercise marked the beginning of unlearning and learning the art of space making. To be able to envisage space as a single flowing entity. We made hundreds of iterations to study mass and voids two dimensions and futher explored it in the third dimension with the help of clay and POP. We then studied various prominent structures and made our interpretations based on their building language.

Earth Summer Workshop - 2017
In August 2017, as apart of Earth Summer Workshop, students from Escola da Cidade, Sao Paulo and Hochschule Konstanz, Constance had come to India. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Jaaga DNA and IN:CH Studio. In the Bengaluru chapter, as a team of 9 students from CMRUSOA, we joined the workshop. Our task was design and build a play area for children. We chose this space under the Wheeler road flyover as these are unclaimed public spaces which usually end up being a dumping area for trash.
It was a journey of 10 amazing days. We got to meet and understand the thought process of students from different parts of the world and collaborate with them. We got to do everything; right from doing the contextual study and analysis till giving shape to project and finishing it. We learnt the value of working as a team and the intense process which goes behind developing even a humble project.

Central Park Book Studio, NY by Switch Competitions As a group of three, recognised the fast moving pace of the city and took a call to create a space one stumbles upon during their daily routine and need not make dedicated time to visit such a space. The perfect inspiration dawned to us as the space around a tree, as it allows one to do multitude of things – play, nap and most importantly, a nook to read. Foliage provides a balance of light and shade. The trunk works as an anchor point and provides support. The terra firma gives the nature a flexibility in terms of it’s usage.
The “Echoing Tree” has been positioned in manner such that the structure catches ones’ eye from all entry points and welcomes the public to access the space from multiple directions.
The interplay of the space around the 7 pavilions creates a greater space in public realm which gives a sense of embracment while being on the outside.
1m x 1m modules made up of rammed earth make up the base unit which provides flexibility in terms of its usage.
The modules come together to create spaces where one can read, jump around or just take a nap.Modules make a 5x10m pavillion.

Measure Drawing: Yeshwanthpur Flyover As a tribute to the legendary Charles Eames, his grandson Eames Demetrios is on a journey to make more than 100 installations around the world to narrate the story of his grandfather. In India, the place chosen is Bengaluru. As a team of three, we helped Ar. Kulshrest Patel to measure draw the site. We chose the space underneath the Yeshwanthpur flyover as it offers shelter from rough weather, has good amount of footfall throughout the day and most importantly, the space is open to public 24/7. It was an experience of its own to measure draw a space with massive curves and heights and in the middle of all this, the infamous traffic of Bengaluru!
