Muhamad Aly Rifai is a skilled and experienced psychiatrist based in Easton, Pennsylvania, with a keen focus on research. As an internist and addiction specialist, Rifai has a diversified career with a wealth of knowledge in telepsychiatry, clinical research, neuromodulation, and psychedelics.
For the past eleven years, Rifai had served as the founder, chief psychiatrist, and internist at Blue Mountain Psychiatry, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Over the years, Blue Mountain Psychiatry has become the largest and most reputable independent psychiatric group in the Lehigh Valley area, providing innovative therapy options and assortments of psychiatric services, such as Ketamine treatment, tele services, private psychiatry, and addiction treatment. Additionally, Blue Mountain Psychiatry is currently developing its fifth treatment location, aiming to provide treatment options in the eastern Pennsylvania region.
Since February 2013, Rifai has been working as a medical director for eastern Pennsylvania, where he supervises the only inpatient detoxification program with drug and alcohol
treatments at the county center for recovery. Alongside this, he serves as the psychiatric medical director. Rifai also works as a clinical professor in psychiatry at Misericordia University, under a contract job.
Before launching Blue Mountain Psychiatry, Rifai spent six years as the Avicenna Endowed Chair of Psychiatric Medicine and worked for three years as a medical director in psychiatry at Easton Hospital in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he supervised 16 beds of the adult unit to improve the quality of life for behavioral health patients.
Rifai has also worked in education, including a contract job as a clinical professor in psychiatry at DeSales University. He supervised students working as psychiatric nurse practitioner students and physician assistants.
Rifai served as an adjunct professor of medicine and psychiatry at Drexel University from June 2007 to June 2020. Additionally, his other notable roles include chief medical officer at New Vitae Wellness and Recovery in Allentown and a clinical professorship for psychiatry and medicine, which he held for seven years.
Rifai received a higher national diploma with honors from American International College in September 1990. Further, he completed a psychopharmacology program from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center between 1996 and 1998. Rifai pursued a Master's of Medical Management Program from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017 and attended a Media Boot Camp at Harvard University with the Discovery Channel in 2012. Rifai completed a residency in internal medicine and psychiatry
at the Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Virginia, followed by becoming the chief resident, covering internal medicine, medicine, and psychiatry. During his tenure, Rifai earned the award for distinguished researcher.
