DRAMATIC APPEARANCE

The lighting design concept focuses on accentuating the key elements of the faรงade, most importantly the crown and the podium. Ensuring that the building is visible from a distance and from ground level. The unique faรงade elements are lit with soft gradients of light that reveal the different materials and finishes. This is achieved with a combination of hidden cove lighting and wall washers. Furthermore, the volume of the building is rendered by strategically adding minor touches of light, with the use of hidden lighting, to certain terraces.

Protecting the built heritage and conserving the local traditional and cultural values of communities helps in inspiring and educating the future generations. In this presentation there will be considered several approaches on how with the light we could enhance and activate the architectural heritage, which would be the main guidelines in creating the lighting design concept:

Being located on the top of the town hill, the fortress already appears dramatic. The ideas is use the fortress and its surrounding to project the light and create different scenarios, which could be observed from the downtown. The main inspiration for emphasizing more dramatic appearance of the fort we find in projecting the colors of the sky as the Sun sets down. This entire lighting is DMX controllable, with this technology the lighting system is flexible for creating the different scenarios in case of the celebrations, holidays etc.

CREATING CITY PANORAMA HIGHLIGHTING THE ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES

A warm color scheme is used throughout, taking inspiration from the Miami beach and the warm gradients of light that wash the sky during the sunset and sunrise. As this warm color temperature of light washes the faรงade it produces a homey and inviting final result that generates a feeling of comfort for the residences of the towers and for the visitors.

FACADE LIGHTING DESIGN BAHRAIN

TOWN CENTRE A Town Centre is one of the major attractions in a city. It is a place where people gather and perform various activities. It is a hot spot for tourists as well as the locals in the area. Therefore, it has to stand out as well as blend in perfectly with its surroundings. Keeping this in mind, the façade lighting will be implemented with a concept of “many different building facades”. Illumination based on architectural features and activities in their respective spaces will give off a street front vibe so that the visitors feel like they are in a town centre.

ENTRANCES & WAY-FINDING LIGHTING The entrances will be highlighted so as to stand out from the rest of the mall. This is a good strategy to attract the visitors from a distance and provide a smooth circulation.

F&B & AMBIENCE LIGHTING On the other hand, the façade lighting of F&B areas will be of a warm tone and low level lighting using the linear up-light with the anti-glare technology, so that it creates a cosy ambience for the visitor.

DESIGN APPROACH

DESIGN APPROACH

This concept focuses on ensuring that the lighting levels at the entrance of the towers are sufficient enough to create an inviting space for the guests, allowing for their first impression to be one of intrigue and comfort.

The faรงade lighting scheme aims at creating a subtle yet attractive lighting effect during the night. Understanding the architecture of the building in order to enhance the geometric form of the building and accentuating the key elements of the faรงade .

This is done with the use of randomly placed diffused linear lines of light recessed into the beams of the canopy, producing a soft yet powerful spread of light along the horizontal plane. A combination of diffused general lighting and diffused decorative ambient lighting is used. With a cooler color temperature being employed for vertical and horizontal illumination of the area and warmer lighting is used to highlight the unique patterns and architecture of the canopies. The addition of the warmer lighting to the canopies connects the canopy lighting to the faรงade lighting, which also utilizes a warmer color temperature. The use of the linear lines in this concept generates an air of movement, directing the guests towards the entrances whilst producing an interesting modern and dynamic effect.

Highlighting the upper horizontal element of the building uniformly to create a striking result since this element is connecting the two buildings together and the most visible element from far away. The podium lighting to be focus on the entrance mass with high brightness enhancing the arrival experience and guide visitor.

THESIS PROJECT- CMBT BUS TERMINAL

SITE LOCATION

Urapakkam, Vandalur. Kancheepuram District. Proposed Area of 88.5 Acres

Surrounding Landuse : Institutional, Residential, Commercial. BS Abdur Rahman University, VRK Nagar,Ambika Nagar.

SECTIONS

Water Supply in this area is distributed by water tanks. Drainage connection in front of the site on the side of the service road.

Cononut, Palmyra, Neem. Water body on the site. Tress on the sites is unfit to consider for design. Water body can be used for water supply.

Slope towards GST Road. There is unnecessary cutting and filling of contours. And also it has the stability of the slopes are solid enough to bult construction.

Consider GST Road as Important Vision linkage for the design to explore something new to the city.

The transfer of land by the revenue department to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority at Urapakkam has raised hopes that a satellite bus terminus for south-bound buses will finally come up in the area..The revenue department sent a proposal to the CMDA to consider 50 acres of land belonging to a temple at Nandivaram for the purpose in March this year. Even as the government was pursuing the proposal, the Supreme Court gave a favourable verdict to the revenue department over the disputed land at Urapakkam. The revenue department immediately transferred 88.5 acres of land.

CONCEPT AND EVOLUTION

The bees work in a pattern. The Queen Bee lays the eggs while the worker bees stay hard at work to kee the beehive alive, all the while looking for a new Queen Bee. Once a new Queen is found, the old Queen leaves in search of a new home with a few worker bees. This process is called swarming of bees. The unique thing about swarming is that the bees travel in large numbers but they never collide with each other. Two bees will never collide while traveling. That principle has been depicted in this design. The concept has been derived in such a way that it is free of collision and an immense reduction of traffic. The separation or partitioning is done based on the types of vehicles that access a bus terminus. The passenger vehicles, the MTC buses and the tour buses have been routed in such a manner that they would never have to interfere with each other and help reduce the traffic.

ZONING AND CIRCULATION The faรงade lighting scheme aims at creating a subtle yet attractive lighting effect during the night. Understanding the architecture of the building in order to enhance the geometric form of the building and accentuating the key elements of the faรงade . Highlighting the upper horizontal element of the building uniformly to create a striking result since this element is connecting the two buildings together and the most visible element from far away. The podium lighting to be focus on the entrance mass with high brightness enhancing the arrival experience and guide visitor.

TERMINAL ROOF

The terminal roof is tapered in shape to be claimate reposnsive even in extreme conditions. It can store heat and matain the minimum temperature inside the terminal. There will be a cool atmosphere within the terminal even without electronic coolent. During rainfall, it collects water beneath the ground level and the collected water flows towards the service drainage.

BUS BAY ROOF

Bay roof is shaped to be claimate responsive even in extreme weather conditions. The wind exerts the heat overhead and maintains the atmophere cool within the terminal. It also drains the rainwater towards the drainage.

PALLIKARANAI

MARSH TO DUMPYARD Wetland system began in 1806 with the construction of the 422-kilometre (262 mi) Buckingham Canal. The marshland experienced several major construction activities, ranging from the National Institute of Ocean Technology, the Centre of Wind Energy Technology, Chennai’s Mass Rapid Transport System, and Flyovers to construction of buildings for educational institutions, IT parks, restaurants, shopping malls, and hospitals, which affected free flow of water. The land occupied by the corporation is 200 acres (81 ha), including 30 acres (12 ha) where a waste management plant is planned. The locals started using the stagnant water in this part of the marsh as a bathing ghat and as a grazing ground for their cattle

URBAN DESIGN PROPOSAL- VETREE

HIGH END APPROACH

DESIGN ORGINALITY

High end approached to redesigned the desination by INCINERATION.

The concept of the design has been derived from the biological functions of a tree itself. . The VETREE generates energy using the waste in the dump yard as the nutrients. The waste collected in the dump yard is incinerated to produce energy that is re directed towards the surrounding buildings in the form of electricity. The harmful carbon monoxide emissions that are a result of this process are treated and converted to carbon dioxide before being released into the environment. Trees surrounding the waste management plant act as a carbon sink and absorb most of the carbon dioxide emitted.

EFFECT OF CURRENT DUMPYARD The unplanned dumpimg of waste in perungudi dumping yards has cause problems such as pollution, smoke and fire. The leachate drains into the marshland and the water table below, providing useless for residents even 1.5 km away.

SHRINK PATTERN ELECTRICAL PROCESS OF GARBAGE DISPOSAL GOAL OF REDESIGN The system has to redesigned such that leachate doesnt touch the ground and gases from decomposition not let out in the environment. This deal with the ideal waste decomposition system. Waste garbages are sent to INCINERATION process to produce form of energy to produce electricity. The electricity going to be used throught out the city.

INDIAN GARBAGE DISPOSAL PROCESS

There are only three destinations in garbage’s journey : A. Domestic bin. B.Transfer Station C.Landfill. Between the three points, there is either a tricycle or a truck transporting the waste. The garbage entring in this journey, is neither reduced nor recycled. Such is the system that is prevelent throughtout the country.

PROBLEM OF THE WASTE PROCESS

The low end approch fails because the seggregation occurs at just one point of the system and the destination is a mere dumping ground. What can change this?

SEGREGATING WASTE

The corporation decided to propogate segregation. The approach suggested : low end one, bins of 3 different colours distributed to residents and waste pick up workers for segregation into bio-degradable, non-biodegradable and hazardous waste.

SPARK [FROM] EXHAUST Throw away of Pallikaranai marshland is not mess for environment, and now its revamped by generating spark from exhaust.

DESIGN CYCLE

Garbage dump over the years.- Loaded into Waste storage.- Waste regulate d to the fire chamber to keep it dry and burn.- Loaded garbage get burned on fire chamber.-Energy recovery detects the heats and collect electricity.-Burned ashes will sent to reycle process.

DYNAMISM IN ARCHITECTURE “ARCHITECTURAL DYNAMISM is a FORCE which contributes and changes the progress of EXISTENCE”

PRESENT SCENARIO In current stage of life human life lots of ego and disputes are seen humanity is falling back other species are improperly treated, racialism, social status degradation are encouraged in name of country, religon and caste etc. Rather than being a united good settlement we are one heck of combined people living together

VERTICAL SETTLEMENT The horizontal means of providing huge land masses is a good solution because of the abundant presence of sea. However they may affect the ecosystem of the readily available ecosystem.

SPIRAL SOLAR CURVILINEAR CONNECTORS

In order to maintain proportion,So that it doesn’t submerge,The settlement surrounded by a layer Which encourages and beholds the sustainable life to lead

DYNAMISM+ REVIVAL+ APOCALYPTIC EVOLUTION OF FORM

PRESENT SCENARIO Increasing sea level is an evident of extinction of world through water as a major source element. Nine out of 10 theories justifies and tells that increasing sea water level will be the major threatening key for extinction of world. At extinction stage human’s survival is most complicated and there by hope is very less. Absence of land mass will be a biggest dropback. Basic ammenities such as fresh water, food, and mostly other species will be departed from human cycle. Which is not a appropriate life to live. If there is less production of basic ammenities means it leads to demand where it will be the most important reason for dispute between the species.A solution has to be threby adressing and producing solutions for a disputeless settlement.

ENERGY SOURCE

VIEWING DECK

Electrolysis is the passage of current or any other appropriate energy through an ion-containing solution. Electrolysis produces chemical changes at the electrodes thereby liberating electrons as current. Providing renewable energy sources like Solar, wind , tidal and biomass has become more common, man cannot always be dependent on these sources. He needs subsidary energy more frequently to satisfy his daily needs. Hence, Using the abundant resource of sea, providing an energy solution like the process said above can improve the energy process for a healthy settlement to progress.

STRUCTURAL FRAMEWORK :

MAKE DYNAMIC STRUCTURES MORE FUNCTIONAL FORMATION OF ROTATING DISK The disc’s morphological classification can be elaborated into several parts. The main support for the disc has a steel channel of I- composite circular section which runs around the periphery of the disc. Having Direct bio rock or fill around the steel may not be a great supportive solution, Hence a layer of solid shell with mineral rich substance is present Around steel. The bio rock at the center ensures floating through force of Buoyancy.

INNER STEEL SEGMENT SETTLEMENT ON WATER Predictios are always belivable , Atthe period of extinction WATER will be the most dangerous form of exit route to earth 90%of water will be covering us no land of course, in such a scenario minerals will be at COUNTLESS rate no energy form will be delivered or found at any cause so the only way to sustain is to figure out a way to live in water.

A steel segment is placed inside the landfill disk which Gets connected to the electrolytic chamber and the energy process happens As discussed earlier.

SMART HOUSING NECESSITIES

The construction site is located in vaishnvo devi circle, Tragad ,AHMEDABAD its a multi block apartmen construction project which has been headed back two months it is constructed by ADANI GROUP.This site has 12 blocks with each block upto three floors. It has a very extremely huge tremendous landscape filling where as green fields where varily incorporated.

In a construction site wherein generationg good load of work is more essential than producing a quality productive work where safety, proper construction method, regular food for workers, also the accomadation a sustainable community has to be created frugally it has to be replaced and contributed in some other place wherever needed

MATERIAL BOARD

CONSTRUCTION TYPOLOGY

Total site area is around- 5.8 hectares Time period of construction- 5 years Total number of workers- 800(assumed) Total number of house modules- 80 Total number of dormitories- 60

STABLE ENERGY The responsibility of a construction worker is fulfilled when the construction of the house is completed. The contribution of the worker is fulfilled when activities of the worker can help to generate a different form of energy

TRAVEL BIOPIC

Walking can create energy. When the person in the unit walks, the spring under the floor compresses and expands which is connected to an electromagnetic coil which generates electrical energy which can be stored in batteries of higher capacity. This can be used to run the LED light Fixtures in the housing unit.

A contrary explanation is that, as a consequence of the low ranged humans, breathing at a place finding a new shade, striving hard for the income of the family, transporting all the way from their local by the available transport, seeking for home FAMILY

MANMADE ENERGY

ORIGIN

MASS GATHERING

NATURAL ENERGY

STABLE ENERGY The landscape grown on top of the housing unit can be used in the site as landscaping for the site.

TRANSHUMANCE

ACCOMADATION

With the help of a rotor unit we can harvest energy from the wind blowing at the site. The maximum wind speed at the site (Ahmedabad) is around 37 m/s. This can help to harvest a lot of energy. When the wind blows, the rotor moves which moves the generator which in turn generates.

WORKING

SCENARIO PERCIVE While providing housing for the worker, it shouldn’t result in a loss for the contractor. Hence the idea of creating consumable energy from the housing, to negate the cost incurred in creating the housing.

HOMESTEAD FOR WORKERS

PRUDENT OUTCOME

The unit does not have a fan as it uses a lot of energy to run. The alternative given here is fabric hanging from the ceiling which can help in cooling the interiors of the housing unit. It is also cost effective and energy efficient.

IRRIGATION

CHAIRPERSON FALL

NECESSITY OF HOUSE A complete house comprises such as basic essentials to live and expand their life in all format of expenditures and needs like water, air and electricity to lead their life in a sustainable way which will be projecting their lives towards all sorts of livelihood A product which has been manifested has to play a conveying roll towards the contractor or the chairperson. some sort of profit more than his invesment has to be rewarded back.

The grey water obtained from the housing unit can be stored and from the storage we can send this water for irrigation to the top of the unit and this will help in growing the plants.

INSTALLATION PROCESS

The water used to clean utensils and bath and also the water used for washing and cleaning purposes can be used for irrigating the overhead vegetation which in turn helps in cooling the housing unit.

HUMAN BODY AND ARCHITECTURE Human anatomy is considered to be nature’s peak of perfection and certain features serve as inspiration for Architecture. Allusion to the human body is found without going as far as mimicry. Analogies appear in our vocabulary skeleton, skin, facade. Architecture allows subtle features of human body to be impressed, received and transmitted into the built environment. Buildings borrow features such as their structural flexibility from the human body using it as a way to resist unpredictable geological instabilities.

Oat than the normal open air theatre this will be different in such a way that it is semi open to the sky where it has huge sphere museum structures will be hanging above theirhead where it will be huge and mass transaction space where the meditation people will gather for congregation those space will act like congregation space these spaces will be having a access towards both sanctum and exit from the building

In starting stage of birth the brain will be fresh and it cant uttern any sort of observations in that especially faith it doesn’t know its basic principles of life

Brain will just start to observe the closer needs and delivarables which it knows and wants.

Brain will just start to be active and from there on it gathers lots of knowledge by itself this leads them to creativeness and it will make them to have a clear vision

This will be the stage where the human is slightly staring to mature and by just starts to take a desicion by himself

After he just starts to lead his life D he will start to think about its future planned for future

In this stage soul gets to know about his life, faith. We had a complete journey all over his up’s and downs of his life. Now he is just going to saturate life

the soul may rest but not the rest his deeds will live as the remark and it also continue

THE CONCEPT

Spinal cord is a long central backbone which is connected to the brain. It is one of the major support bone for a humanbeing. In design , the form is supported by a long central steel member which runs along the whole length of the structure. from the main structure secondary steel members are connected at the sides . The joints of the steel are derived from the way in which the human bones are joined.

CONCEPTUAL EVOLUTION OF FORM

SPIRITUAL CENTER +MUSEUM Green floor plate the second floor plan has got green landspace covering where all the people will meet up for the congregation it is filled with lots of trees and landscape elements they will be walking on the grass this space this space will act like a roof top garden.

How they feel about the hanging each and every hanging is placed in the basic form of scientific psycopath calculation where all the hangings will be in such a way of calculations that will give a feeling of abnormanl living Heavnly bodies all the sphere has been placed in the basic concept of heavn to earth all the stage of the doesnt have guarabtee to live in the world always all the souls are anging in the earth any how one day everyone has depat from the earth.

where all the they can accommadte in the maditation centre in huge question in current scenario for that we have given a solution as a whole floor space will act like a congregation space where everyone can utilise the space this space can accomadate more than 700 people..

COMPETITION- 120 HOURS

TRIPPING POINT The new festival ground lacked a iconic structure which would mark the site distinguishly. We realised that 7 the people who would come there would have to choose which concert to attend 7 so we decided to make such a structure which would allow them to enjoy two con-certs from a single area . This would serve as a structure for people to rest and dance without the non-irritating contour land-form. the whole structure being made of recycled fibre boards with reinforcements would be sustainable. the need of lighting was solved using sky-lights.

GROUND LEVEL

The location of the structure was decided so as to provide a maximum view for the two existing performing stages. The sky light makes the structure more sustainable during the daytime and The celing on the ground level illuminate the ground level during the night by the floor which generates electricty. The roof structure was designed in such a way that it would provide shade to the ground level throughout long scandinavian day in august and shade from the heavy rainfall during the late summer season.

The seating area has seating made from sand bags making use of construction waste. The ramp is covered on alll sides so as to make people feel the contrast effects of sustainablity and non-sustainable structures.
