The Extraordinary Object - Introduction The qualities of an object is sometimes demonstrated through its container. Therefore students are required to investigate an object and capture some of its qualities through various illustrative techniques. Students must be able to articulate what these qualities are and then will be tasked to create a container for their object. Each of the following words that describe a particular type of containment:

Holder, Vessel, Receptacle, Cabinet, Chamber, Box, Store, Frame, Platform, Cell, Sac, Alcove, Field, Utensil, Canister, Crate, Hall, Stage, Dish, Pouch, Cradle, Sack, Vat, Casket,

Hence, students have to research on what those words mean and develop a detailed understanding of them. Thus, this will be the starting point for how they consider designing a new container for their object.

Flat Pack Backpack Shelter - Introduction The flat pack back pack habitat as its name says is a habitat which can be packed. In other words it serves as a habitat but the main feature is that it can be assembled and disassembled in no time. The material here was limited to cardboard with restriction to only 5% of glue and tape. The design of the shelter hence needed to be adaptable to this criteria and its functionality should be according to not only the way it works but the way it can be flat packed. Project Objectives : 1. Introduce students to anthropometric studies and its projection through scales. 2. To understand site analysis methodologies and its application to design process. 3. Students to develop critical problem solving skills based on architectural design methodologies. 4. To further explore 3 dimensional design elements, forms and principles. 5. To communicate design intentions by means of 2D and 3D drawings, and scale model.
