A few points to help keep your kit in the best condition possible... • Don’t be tempted to tumble dry items as this can cause cracking to logos and badges and can also result in shrinkage. • Wash the kit as soon as possible after the match as this allows the kit to be washed at a lower temperature which retains colour for longer and reduces the risk of damage. • Do not use fabric softener on your kit! • Once the kit has dried don’t iron the garments if it’s not necessary. Avoiding additional heat on the garments proongs the colour and reduces the risk of damage.
Welcome from the chairman
Well welcome to issue two as we head into winter, good news thanks to more generous sponsors we have winter jackets for all the teams on their way. The club house will now be open to keep warm and bacon rolls served till 12.00, it will stay open to the end with Lego and colouring for the littles ones. In order to keep it open we need to clean up after every Saturday as the games finish and need help to manage it, and serve. A list of games is below and would be great to have volunteers from each age group to ensure we can keep it open. Framlingham FC Home Games Number of Teams @ Badingham Rd 17/11/2018

We also will have new ruck sack kit bags that can be purchased on would be great to see the kids with them , and have a handy compartment to keen the muddy boots in. A massive thank you to Fiona Whatling and the senior committee and all the people of Framlingham who have collected the tokens from the East Anglian Daily Times putting us in a good position to win money to spend on kits and extras for the junior section with a whopping 2400k vouchers. That’s a serious amount of papers bought but shows how much the community want to support the youth section. Special goal keeper training starts and these were really well received last year and are suitable for junior keepers of all ages. The first session will be at the club @6pm on Tuesday 6th November. Also please look here https://www.totalfootballdirect.com/club-shops/framlingham-town-youth-fc/framlinham-town-youth-fc-weatherproof-jacket-42627.html to buy supporters jackets. It would be good to see your support while keeping warm and raise more funds for the kids. Finally we are looking at a summer tournament-skills session any input ideas welcome. Please continue your great support for this fantastic community club and a big thank you for the coaches as a lot happens behind the scenes, from getting up early every week to marking out the pitches, comply with the weekly paper work with the FA and ensure the kids get games and training.

The U8s have a full quota of 10 players with 4 fresh faces from last season. The boys get their first taste of league football this season in Gipping Division along with 7 other teams. I am hoping the boys can continue the steady progress I have seen from them since I joined Framlingham in October last year.

Where did October go? We only had two fixtures, both away. A gritty old win in the second round of the U9s Cup away to Ipswich Athletic, and a less successful visit to Stowupland Falcons, a really impressive team set up with excellent facilities. We’re enjoying training under lights on the lively Framlingham College astro - but it’s easy to say that before the temperatures dip into single figures…or minus numbers. It’s about the time of year that parents dig out thermals and flasks… Welcome to new player Josh Bouldin. Fixtures in November include the next round of the cup at Stowupland (3 Nov), a home match v Leiston (10 November) and away v Wickham Market (who actually play in Rendlesham) on 17th – but that isn’t so very far away. Come and support us if you’ve not got a game!

Nathan Berkley 07495 018849 nathan@muhdo.com It’s not only a new season for the under 10’s but maybe a new era; new faces have joined a brilliant existing team, with a firm emphasis on the word ‘TEAM’ I have been really impressed so far with everyone’s attitude and togetherness and have faith in using this to move forward and get more wins under our belts this season. We are two games in, the First was a definite ‘let’s find our feet’ game and unlucky not to get a few goals for some excellent build up play. The second, a marvellous cup win and hat trick from one of the new faces, Junior (aka ronaldo) Next few weeks I plan to focus on reactions and positioning in game situations; passing and shooting and hopefully a little fitness! As always though, key to everything is have fun and smile; do this and the rest will follow. Enjoy the season, Dave, Ben and Connor

We are now entering our second season with this fantastic group of lads and very much looking forward to the season ahead. With some key areas for improvement identified over the course of the last season, 2 hour weekly summer training sessions have been very well attended really beneficial for players and coaches. It has given all players the chance to work on individual skills, fitness and some important teamwork required to make the adjustment to 9v9, bigger pitches, no retreat line and offsides! With a few well contested friendlies under our belt, we entered our first league game of the season full of enthusiasm and confidence. The boys were exceptional, running out deserved 5-1 winners against Kirton. Calm passing at the back, super quick transitions, pressing all over the pitch and well taken goals showed us how far we have come and how well we can work as a team. A cancelled couple of friendlies, one last minute, enabled us to have an excellent 8v8 training match. This was a valuable experience to work more on positional play, playing out from the back and fitness. The game ended a thrilling 9 all and a chance to practice penalties with some simulated pressure! A 7-1 defeat in our next friendly was a true test of tolerance from the team facing a difficult and trimley side, all players maintaining composure and not reacting to provocation. Our first cup game of the season today saw us unfortunately lose 5-6 going down to an excellent extra-time strike. It was a bizarre and emotionally draining match where we completely dominated the first 10 minutes with some fine passing football. We then had a crazy 10-15 minutes conceding 5 goals with almost every attack from Sutton heath, and thankfully scoring ourselves. Huge credit to the team having the belief and desire to win the second half 4-0 with a superb energetic display of teamwork, scoring some cracking goals only to be beaten in the end. Some good take away lessons from the first half regarding the importance of positional play, aggression and attitude and a second half to be proud of. So we go into our next encounter buoyed by our second half performance today looking for another display of energetic teamwork to encourage smiling faces on the boys and also our excellent supporters/parents.

News from the U12’s Dugout In the last update, I mentioned September was a crazy month in the world of football. Well, if you are wondering what the U12 coaches think of October? The answer would be “bonkers !!”. The squad have made some great leaps forward, we’ve points in the bag and played a cracking good game to get a 4-4 drawn with the “top of the league team” who’ve been scoring for fun and winning games in style and with a swagger. So, belief is starting to blossom in the squad, the team are starting to work as integrated units, and they have got a little more determination in their eyes. So why bonkers? Well, how many times can you walk through defending corners on the training ground and watch all those ideas evaporate on match day - who would want to be a youth coach !! We are looking forward to November as we’ve finally a few home games meaning we’ve a few leisurely starts and can use the sloping pitch to our advantage. Finally, I am really pleased with how well the new players are settling in, and we’ve managed to get them out for a game or two, and we need to arrange many more. I’ll need to update the photo for the next edition !!

A new season and new challenges for the Under 13’s this year. Moving from 9 a side to 11 a side and merging two teams is a challenge we will relish. I have been delighted at how well the boys have integrated and how well they are playing as one team. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the sports and conditioning session given by Wez Pooley and we will be working on these skills throughout the season to ensure our fitness and stamina levels remain as high as possible during games. Carl has also run a great training session for the boys and he will continue to support us this season with his ideas and enthusiasm. After pre-season tournaments and friendlies our season has begun with three league games played and three won, with 16 goals scored by 7 different players. Every member of the team was able to offer their own unique contribution to the final results with some great passing, defending and communication. The new team kits, albeit a little on the large side for some, have been greatly appreciated and have given the boys a professional look to represent Framlingham this season. I also want to thank all the parents for their support so far and for being a general taxi service for training and games! James and I look forward to working with the team and developing their skills over the season and hope that with effort and determination from the boys we can maintain our winning form in the league. Team motto: Attacking football is our game, winning is our aim.

“WE DIDN’T UNDERESTIMATE THEM. THEY WERE JUST A LOT BETTER THAN WE THOUGHT.” – SIR BOBBY ROBSON QUOTE The under 14’s have had a tough old month in October. September ended with long away trips to Brantham and Bacton in the league. We dominated the game against Brantham and deservedly took a 1 v 0 lead with another goal for Flynn. The opposition scored a freak equaliser and despite our domination of the game we could not find a winning goal and therefore came away with a 1 v 1 draw. The trip to Bacton was a good game against a team who matched our passing game. The game was always going to go the way of the team who scored first and unfortunately for us that was the home team. Despite our best efforts and Henry hitting the posting from a great header in the last move of the game we ended up with a 1 v 0 defeat. The start of October saw us playing Brantham again, at home, in the Cup – another end to end game with disallowed goals, penalty decisions reversed and lots of goals. With a team missing quite a few of our regulars we put in a great performance. Luke got his first two goals of the season but a 3 v 2 defeat means we will have to concentrate on progressing in the Plate competition this season. Our last competitive game for October saw us travel to Felixstowe (the team we had started the season against) on the 13th October. Due to player unavailability and injuries we only had 11 players available for the game. Another injury call off on the morning of the game meant we had to play with just 10. The boys put up a very brave fight and we even dropped down to 9 players for the last 15 minutes after picking up yet another injury. It was no surprise that we ended up with a heavy defeat but it was a tremendously brave performance by the 10. We end the month with a couple of friendlies. Hopefully with players returning from injuries and holidays the squad will be back up to strength and we can then really get our season started. Training continues at the College on Thursday evenings between 6.15pm and 7.30pm.

Ricky Peacher 07957 396399 runningricky0@gmail.com So the 1st month of the season is behind us already. We began with a 3-2 defeat to Brantham. This one was a bit disappointing as we never really got going. We also gave away 3 soft goals. Not what I was expecting or hoping for from our 1st league game!! We then travelled to play Sporting ‘87 in a friendly match. The performance here was much improved and we ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. Last Saturday it was back to league action v Coplestonians and our best performance so far by some distance was rewarded with a 6-2 victory. Hopefully this form can be taken into October where we begin our Cup campaign on Saturday v Saxmundham. The lads attitude is just right at the moment and numbers at training have been very good. Onwards and upwards!!

So another season is about to get underway, hard to believe that this will be my last year in youth football. Having coached some of the boys since they were 6 years old to now seeing them taller than me. I have only managed the Saturday team since last season but have known them for years since we split into 2 teams when going to 9 aside football. This year we start the season with 16 players in the squad, around 6 play for both Saturday and Sunday teams. We lost 3 players from last season and welcome 1 new player and 2 players coming back to Framlingham. We narrowly missed out on promotion to division 1 last season on goal difference and hope to continue our improvement and end the boys Youth football by winning Division 2 this season.

And here we go again! the start of the season saw us play at home v Thurston in the Sunday league Division 1, Thurston were promoted last season so wasn't going to be easy. However a perfect start with a 2-0 win, the boys know how much I like a clean sheet! Sunday started in Div 2 in our 1st season together, we won the league only losing 1 game and have remained a Division1 side ever since, several players play for me also on a Saturday and have been together since under 7's. This season we have a squad of 15 welcoming 2 new players and a new coach Richard to assist myself and Neil. We train together with the Saturday boys and the 3 of us have the pleasure of around 26, 15/16 year olds so as you can imagine we do have some fun with some real characters who I'm sure you'll here about and get to know throughout the season updates.
