I am Mukul Kant, 23 years old, graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai, Knitwear Design department. I am shy and not that keen on chit-chats. I like to talk only when it is required. Being an introvert, analysation of little details comes out naturally to me which helps a great deal in my designs. “ The details are not the details, they make the design - Charles Eames. Inspired from Charles Eames philosophy, I get into the details of the design and make sure it is under perfection. I also believe in simplicity. I like to keep my designs simple keeping the above philosophy in mind. I would like to take up a challenging career and grow with honesty, loyalty, good relationship and best performance and translate my experience, knowledge, skills and abilities into value for an organization. I would also like to be part of a reputed organization which provides a steady career growth along with job satisfaction, challenges and give value contribution in the success of the organization.

THE FIRST ISSUE ! TO BE RAISED AND SOLD

SHE WAS BRAVE AND STRONG AND BROKEN ALL AT ONCE

THEME: PROSTITUTION CONCEPT The theme on which we worked upon is Prostitution. Being a serious topic, it needed to be put forward in a certain way. We were asked to do three shoots. Each shoot tries to convey three feelings and sides of a prostitute. The first look depicts the feeling of SURVIVAL, The second look depicts COMPULSION, and the third depicts EXPLOITATION.

STORY We wanted to depict a story which included the emotions and process of a prostitute being on sale, hired by her customer, how she has to sell her body without any choice, and how she feels after she has been used and exploited. SURVIVAL The girl has to sell her body to survive. She is picked up, bought, paid, to be used, and that is her sole mean to survive. COMPULSION It is never the choice of a person to become a prostitute and she has no choice but to sell her body. She has to do it. It is a compulsion for her and she has to live with this compulsion. EXPLOITATION Everytime, after a prostitute is used just for the sake of lust and pleasure, she is left and neglected, just like a trash in a dustbin. And she has to bear this pain of being exploited everyday.

SHE WEARS HER STRENGTH AND DARKNESS EQUALLY WELL

And that was the thing about her, she kept on surviving with marks on her neck, with scratches on her back. she never let things get in her way, resilient, a fighter, not by coice. but a warrior at heart!

LOOK 1

Every night her thoughts weighed heavily on her soul but every morning she would get up to fight another day, every night she SURVIVED.

LOOK 2

CUMPULSION In this look look, we have tried to depict COMPULSION as an emotion. It was never her choice, to sell herself, to be used and thrown like trash. She had to do it, she was dragged into it. It was a compulsion and she has to live with it; forever.

PROSTITUTION A very specific sort of exploitation; it gets mined and poisoned and blown up and depleted, it gets ruined but it doesn’t get raped!

LOOK 3

EXPLOITED In this look, we have indicated the emotion of EXPLOITATION. Everytime, after she is used just for the sake of lust and pleasure, she is left and neglected, just like a trash in a dustbin. And she has to bear this pain of being exploited everyday.

TREND RESEARCH

COLOUR AND MOOD

Psychotropical sees natural and manmade styles merge, as lush painterly botanicals take on a heightened, almost synthetic form for swim and beachwear. The glow of fireflies inspires the palette, as eerie flora and fauna adopt soft glow-in-the-dark effects. For the high-summer drop, tones are more saturated and juxtaposed with lush darks for a dramatic mood. An expressive brushstroke offers flora and fauna an abstract quality, achieved with oil pastels and lashings of vivid gouache. Outlines are bold and brash, paired with dizzying
