A NOTE FROM THE
DIRECTORS
When I came to Mulgrave, I anticipated an exciting start with some new kids, and what I got was all that and more. I feel so lucky to present this show to you tonight. The actors and crew you see on and off stage are some of the most dedicated, kind, and talented people I have yet to work with. This show, Fantastic Mr. Fox, truly was a collaboration between them and myself, and most of what you are about to see came straight from their imaginations. At the start of the rehearsal process, we asked ourselves: What happens when the protagonists are awful, but the antagonists are even worse? To develop these tenacious characters, we focused on movement, sound, and relationship. Who are these creatures? Who do they love? Who do they hate? What do they want? Each actor has been working diligently since October to play their characters tonight. We hope you enjoy their creations!
SARAH BERNSTEIN When I offered to help Ms. Bernstein produce the Middle School Play, I saw it as an exciting creative and technical challenge for all of the students and teachers involved. The Fantastic Mr. Fox is imaginative and playful, which suits our students perfectly, but it’s also filled with dark undertones that leave us wondering: What happens next? How do we carry on? Throughout this exploration, I have had the delight of working with caring, talented and creative students who are always willing to take risks and contribute their many ideas. The Senior and Middle School students who have been involved in the technical and design aspects of the show have blown us away with their dedication, independence, and their wealth of theatrical knowledge. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many passionate individuals in this process. We hope you enjoy the many aspects of The Fantastic Mr. Fox!
