SPRING GALA 2014

What Will This Year’s Gala Look Like? The evening will commence with fervour and excitement with casino games galore. Grab a cocktail and some appys and come see if Lady Luck is on your side. If Lady Luck is not your thing, not to worry! Enjoy some time socializing with your friends and peruse the incredible array of items at this year’s Silent Auction, Wine Cellar and of course, the Gala Select Gallery. Gala Select is perhaps the most popular item at Gala. Each year, classes in both ELC and Junior School create beautiful works of art which then get auctioned off at Gala. Based on the resounding success of last year, the bidding process will begin prior to the Gala and will continue on at the Gala. During Gala, there will be an announcement made calling an end to the Select bidding process. At this time, everyone will be given one last opportunity to make their very best bid for the Gala Select project they want. These last bids will be sealed envelope bids-so you will need to put your very best number forward! At this point, several diligent volunteers will rip open all the sealed bids and quickly determine who gets to go home with the piece of art. Gala would not be complete without a scrumptious meal prepared just for you. Don’t get too lost in your taste buds! You wouldn’t want to miss your opportunity to take advantage of some incredible, once in a lifetime experiences during Live Auction. Finally, get ready to dance the night away.

This will be your final

opportunity to place last bids for Silent Auction and Wine Cellar. And not to worry, if dancing is not your thing, there will be a lounge area for those who just refuse to get onto the dance floor. While this is a good overview of the evening, it’s not all of it! There will be many special surprises throughout the evening. We hope you can join us in making “Spring For Mulgrave” a memorable evening.

For those of you who are new to Mulgrave, welcome to your first

Gala Select Project! Gala Select is a chance for the students

to get involved with Gala. With the help of teachers and some very enthusiastic parents, classes in the ELC and Junior School have created one-ofa-kind works of art that will be up for auction on the evening of Spring Gala. The children have completed their contribution to the Gala auction. All that is left now is the spirited bidding competition which is always initiated for these breathtaking treasures. Considering the incredibly positive response from last year, once again each piece of art will be professionally photographed or scanned and printed as art cards made available to parents for purchase. How great will it be for grandparents, aunts, uncles and other friends and family to receive one for birthdays, thank you cards and even Christmas cards!

Gala needs enthusiastic parent volunteers to help on the night of Gala! Come meet some new parents at the school and help make this evening fun. After a delicious early dinner at the Westin Bayshore, the night volunteers will be responsible for greeting guests and assisting with Reception, Silent Auction, Live Auction, Gala Select Auction and other operations. We would be thrilled to have you join the Gala Night Volunteers team. If you are interested please contact Amy Yuen at amycyuen@mulgravegala.com Please note that we are looking for volunteers who are able to commit from 3:30PM to late and are not planning to attend as guests.

Thank you for your support! APRIL 14, 2014

SPRING GALA 2014

Business Advertising The Spring Gala Catalogue is a great way to advertise your business. The catalogue is distributed to and read by the entire Mulgrave parent body all of whom have a strong desire to support Mulgrave School and its community of businesses and families. There are a couple of ways in which you are able to support Gala: As a Business

Advertiser, your company’s advertisement is included in the catalogue and is displayed in a slideshow during Gala night. Full page, half page, quarter page or business card formats are available as well as the inside front and inside back covers. As an Event

Sponsor, your company can choose to sponsor the event at either the Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum level. Your company’s name or logo will be included in the catalogue and will be displayed with all the other sponsors as one page in the slideshow during Gala night. Mulgrave is a registered charity and a tax receipt will be issued for sponsorships. For further information and to make a donation, please contact Nancy Fu at nancy@mulgravegala.com or Tel: (604) 618-1518.

LIVE AUCTION Come to Gala and have fun bidding against your friends for one of those sought after Parking spaces. If your bid is the highest, you’ll be one of the first families to have a reserved spot in our new parking garage.

New to Live Auction this year is a reserved parking spot for a student driver. In addition, you can bid on the chance for your child to be Head of School for the Day or Principal for the Day. What student wouldn't love to be in charge of their school for the day? We also have plenty of auction items for the adults to enjoy: a trip for two to the very popular Good Hope Cannery (a priceless experience that the Grade 10s can attest to), a trip to beautiful Maui or Phoenix or how about a gorgeous diamond necklace to make Mother’s Day truly special this year? And as always, we are auctioning the very popular dinner out with our very own Head of School, John Wray. Come support Mulgrave School and spoil yourself and your child in the process.

SPRING GALA 2014

will be The Wish List shortly available online nc e a t for your convenie m ala.co www.mulgraveg

There is always a keen sense of excitement and anticipation from children and teachers alike on the publication of the new Wish List. For those who are less familiar with the concept, each year our dedicated teachers compile a list of items that help to inspire and educate our children. The items requested serve to enhance the facilities already available to the children from the current operating budget. Careful consideration is given to each request by the administration and evaluated to ensure each of the four strands in the ELC, Junior and Upper School are fairly represented. The real bonus to Wish List is that you choose exactly where you prefer to spend your generous donations. The requests are varied and vast from Giant Magnetic Insects to Plant Supplies to Soccer Uniforms to a Green Screen for Film.

The Wish List will be available online very shortly for you to refer at www.mulgrave.com regardless of whether you are able to attend gala or not this year. Please click on Spring Gala and then the Wish List. Once you decide which item(s) you prefer, you can download an order form and drop it into the MVP box at the front reception. The entire Wish List will also be published in the Spring Gala catalogue and of course featured at the Gala. Just look for the big-lighted boards. If you are undecided there is always the opportunity to donate any amount to various general funds that support different areas of the school.

Your generosity and support to Wish List is always greatly appreciated.

Don't miss our party of the year!

RSVP NOW! We are going paperless! We hope this will not only be better for the environment but will also reduce expenses, allowing for a greater percentage of funds raised to go directly back to the school and ultimately to our children. RSVP forms are available on the Gala website. Please print, complete, and return your RSVP form to the main office at Mulgrave. The early bird deadline for purchasing tickets at the reduced

rate of $175 is April 30th. After this date, tickets will be $200. Dance only tickets are also available for $50.
