Auto rickshaw drivers go on strike, end up betrayed Mumbai’s biggest auto union went for a one day strike on August 31, against the app based cab services like Ola and Uber. The rickshaw drivers demanded effective regulation on business operation of popular app based taxi aggregators including their pricing strategy to attract customers. Shashank Rao, the leader

of the biggest auto union in Mumbai had earlier said that the government had failed to regulate the practice of transportation of passengers via cab services booked through call centres. He added that their business is suffering because of these app based cab services. Nearly one lakh auto rickshaws went off the

road on the day. The commuters were at the receiving end as many were seen stranded on the streets throughout the city. The protesters also demanded that a badge to be given to all rickshaw drivers and owners who are in the business for three years, without imposing any restrictions on them.
