brother and he’s also the tackle bag every day! “He’s a strong little boy and I think he will play rugby like a champ,” says his dad.
Arno is a popular South African Afrikaans singer and has been in the music business for 13 years. Lizanie has a kiddies’ party hiring company and also runs the home.
“What I love to see is the way our children change every day - the way they copy everything I do made me realise what a big responsibility it is to raise a child! I’m struggling to travel and tour with shows these days; two days away from them is just too much for me!” said Arno.
Milan is a pro with iPhones and iPads, he’s good with rugby and golf and swims really well for his age. He also loves hunting and fishing.
Arno and Lizanie have this advice to offer for new parents: “Learn to have fun with your kids, even if it’s on their terms sometimes those are the memories you want them to have, keep and hold on for a lifetime.”
According to his parents, Luka is a small steamroller - he takes knocks from his big

Divorce Mediation: Refreshing New Possibilities
Take the emotional and financial stress out of divorce – the Divorce Mediation Centre is here to help you deal with your divorce in the most cost-effective, practical and dignified manner possible. Save time and money with your divorce settlement, preserve your sanity and move on with your life and protect your children from a nasty court battle with divorce mediation. Benefits of Mediation In some situations, mediation may be preferable to filing a lawsuit. Mediation provides the following advantages: • Confidentiality. There are a few exceptions, but what the parties say during mediation is confidential and not subject to future use in a lawsuit. Court cases, on the other hand, are matters of public record. • Costs less than a lawsuit. Mediation cases cost substantially less than court costs and attorney fees. • Faster resolution than going to court. Lawsuits may take years to result in a court ruling, but mediation can take as little as a few hours or a few sessions. • The parties decide. The parties in mediation, not the judge or jury, decide on a resolution. • The parties communicate directly. Rather than communicating through lawyers, the parties speak directly to each other.

Educated Life Department of Basic Education’s schools act states that all schools must be inclusive of children with special needs. Teachers are not always equipped to diagnose learners with learning disabilities or intervene effectively,” says Lebere. “At AAS we want to support every aspect of our adopted schools, from the facilities to the teachers to the health and emotional wellbeing of the learners.
Developing Environments Where Special Needs Learners Can Thrive
Nearly three-quarters of South African children living with disabilities are currently not in school (The challenges of realising inclusive education in South Africa, by Dana Donohue and Juan Bornman).
This unique, holistic approach to supporting schools is called the Whole School Development (WSD) model. AAS uses this mechanism to improve and uplift the academic, infrastructural, social and security environment in their adopted schools. WSD ensures that schools have the necessary management and community leadership to support an environment conducive to excellence in both teaching and learning.
Adopt-a-School Foundation (AAS) urges all stakeholders to work together to develop strategies to support and educate these marginalised learners. “Schools in disadvantaged communities face many challenges. They are very seldom able to sufficiently accommodate learners with special needs,” says Steven Lebere, Executive Director of Adopt-a-School. “As a result, most of these children simply never enter the formal schooling system, For more information on Adopt-a-School visit the Foundation’s website at even though many of them are very bright www.adoptaschool.org.za, e-mail and would thrive in the right environment,” info@adoptaschool.co.za or call continues Lebere.
