Gelila and Zewerede met through mutual friends, immediately forming a connection and going out on their first date the very next day. Having so much in common, it seemed as if everything they learned about each other continued in furthering their connection. Sharing a unique sense of humor, a mutual love for culinary delights, and deep respect for family - they discovered in each other not just a romantic partner but a best friend.

It wouldn’t be long before the realization that they’d discovered in each other the one began to surface in their minds. And so it was when they were preparing to take their mothers on a pre-mother's day brunch that the perfect opportunity presented itself. Stopping for a romantic boat ride along the way, Gelila was enjoying the beautiful scenery when Zewerede looked deep into her eyes and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.

For Gelila, wedding shopping was an easy experience, already knowing the type of dress she wanted. After visiting two bridal boutiques it took a total of two hours to say yes to an enchanting Paloma Blanca dress. Both the bride and groom were regally adorned in traditional Ethiopian Kabas worn over their western wedding attire. Surrounded by loving family and friends, Gelila and Zewerede were pronounced husband and wife in a stunning orthodox church. Their union was celebrated in a gorgeous reception at the historic National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Best Memories: "Being around family & friends!"

Advice for Engaged Couples: "Trust your vendors! They are experts in their field so allow them to do their work. Yes, you have a vision and plan, but once you share that with them, let it go and enjoy life."
