Ice Rescue Training

The Meaford Fire Department team conducted ice rescue training this past February at the Meaford Harbour. Volunteers and staff took advantage of the unique landscape here in Meaford to get the necessary training to protect and serve this great community. This is the first year the Meaford Fire Department has had access to a rescue raft that is specially designed for ice water rescue. This raft allows for easier ice rescues and provides a safe platform for firefighters to work from during rescue operations. It was purchased through a generous donation from The Root Community Fund. Since 1887, the firefighters of Meaford have been selflessly responding to emergencies within the community. They respond to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle collisions, extrication, hazardous materials incidents, and rescues from water/ice, steep terrain, and confined space. Firefighters are well trained and dedicated to serving you. For more information, please visit www.meaford.ca/fireservices.
