This Waterwheel dates back from 1818, having a diameter of 8,20 meters. This one entirely constructed in wood, axis(axle) and plates in sweet iron, her last reconstruction was in 1951. It gets the water of the Acequia Principal Blanca, watering approximately 233 tahullas.

Itinerary: Start from Abarán, and we go down for the Constitution of the Avenue till we reach to the garden that we us find to the left margin of the Rio Segura where we will find the Big Waterwheel to the right. We remember that the waterwheels date back of the Arabic epoch and that they were used and they continue using to raise the water to the upper channels and to be able to water the lands in both shores of the river. The traditional garden, not only cultivates critics, also there are vegetables for the familiar consumption or his later sale.

We have to move back all the way walking up to coming again to the Big Waterwheel. We will continue for the way that goes close to the river up to a gangplank that crosses us to the other side, going down for the right margin for a rural way we come to "Candelón Waterwheel". To see it you can accedes to the way of the same margin of the river, going up to another way and turn to the left, between gardens, in the place of the Candelón. The Waterwheel is metallic and dates back from 1850, though in 1968 it was reconstructed how the original one was. The water raises also from the Acequia Charrara to a raft, the Waterwheel provides water to 15 tahullas. The Big Waterwheel is the biggest of Europe. It was constructed in the year 1805. She has 11,92 meters of diameter and raises 25 liters of water per second, watering 155 tahullas (a tahulla is equivalent to 11 areas and 18 centiareas of surface, unit of surface typical of the South-east of Spain). It was reconstructed in 1951 by order of the Community of Regantes, which is his owner. It is realized in sweet iron and wood. Is made of wood, and it extracts the water of the Acequia Charrara to fill a small raft with the one that waters 8 tahúllas of the ravine of Chelo and Jacintón. From here we return to Abarán, place where we will finish the Route of the Waterwheels.
