SoHo, New York is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan filled with artists' lofts and art galleries. This space houses an outdoor terrace that overlooks New York, a permanent gallery for Crane’s decade of works, and a flexible space for new photographs.

SOHO GALLERY

The concept that jump started this project was the idea of flow; to move along steadily and continuously. Four designed layers would help define the work surface and storage of the desk. The layers start at one side of the desk at the base like the root of a tree. They flow upwards and begin to weave through the desk where they end above the floor on the opposite end. To eliminate weak points on the desk, the joins are lapped over each layer to create a strong interlocking bond. At area where the layers are leaning vertically against another, steel dowels are set internally to prevent shifting of the layers.

RIBBON DESK

The ParaBench was a study of modular design and moving joints. The ParaBench can be use for many purposes; as a shoe rack, step stool, or a bench. The design of the ParaBench allowed it to fold up into an easy to carry and flat-package design for storage. It folds and unfolds in one motions and locks in place with a simple bar at is intergraded.
