Count Your

BLESSINGS

A

good friend of mine was just telling me about a powerful moment during one of his Denton County small-business networking meetings. As the group slowly went around

the room sharing a little bit about their respective companies, a quiet but very nice dent-repair guy stood up and mentioned that he had moved here years ago from Ukraine. It was clearly his first time to be at a networking meeting, and despite a slight language barrier, he did his best to explain who he was, what he did, and how he could help everyone in the room. Before he could finish, this exchange happened: “I’m sorry to interrupt,” a guest on the other side of the room said. “Did you say you’re from Ukraine?” “Ummm. Yes. Yes, I am.” “Well … I stand with Ukraine. We all do.” The entire room erupted with support for this young man, who undoubtedly was trying to make a living here in America while still being worried about relatives back home in his war-torn country. Even if you’re currently living under a rock, you know what’s going on over there. I won’t go into detail, but the bottom line is that it is very sad. And over the past few weeks, practically the entire nation has come together to support Ukrainians near and far. Regardless of what we all have going on in our lives and which side of the fence we are on politically, religiously, etc., we should all be counting our blessings for the peace we do have here in the United States. Furthermore, we should all be standing for and sending our prayers to the innocent men, women, and children in Ukraine. On behalf of my team at Murray Media, we, too, stand with Ukraine.

She was very enthusiastic. I looked into it. Keisha York is the managing broker and the founder of Tru-Home. At one time, she managed 1,500 agents, so she obviously has the experience. She does an exceptional job and I decided to join her in February of 2020. “Real estate is a relationship business,” Lisa continued, “and teaching gave me a solid foundation. Standing in front of a class of elementary students means constantly taking in information, processing it, and making rapid decisions. It’s the same in real estate. There’s constant information going from buyer to seller, and vice-versa, with the agent in the middle. “I feel we’re doing something important and worthwhile. but, regardless, you must be proactive and put yourself out there. For the most part, I jumped in and figured it out. You become accustomed to forming a fast kind of relationship with people.

You get to know them. You

“Some of those relationships stay in your mind. I recently closed a deal with a lady I’d worked with for 1 ½-years. She got a second full-time job so she could buy her dream home. I was so incredibly happy for her that she got her first house after so much dedication and hard work. I also consider it an honor to be a part of the journey of people like this, as they push so hard to achieve their dream of homeownership.” Lisa’s been married to her husband, Jim, for nearly nine years. She also has three adult children; her daughter lives in Texas and her two sons are in Virginia and Iowa. Lisa has learned the art of being proactive quite well. She’s been selling real estate for four years, two of those at TruHome. Last year, 2021, she was the firm’s top solo agent. That’s quite an accomplishment. www.LiveLocalMagazines.com
