Eight years!

For eight years, the incredible community has voted David Ryan Salon as the Best Color Salon for Best of Denton County, and owner David Ryan Smith couldn’t be more grateful. With nearly 20 years of experience and a deep passion for educating stylists and their clients, Ryan has big dreams for the future.

“Our team is our greatest strength,” Ryan said. “Each stylist has their individual artistic talents, but when the team at the David Ryan Salon comes together, there is an explosion of creativity.”

“I believe we are hair color specialists because it isn’t just the individual hair stylist but the team as whole,” Ryan said. “We collaborate together to create a color formula to ensure the best possible result.”

Creating a color that works best with hair type, skin tone, any previous color, and even a client’s daily routine takes experience and knowledge. It’s about maximizing the full potential of our hair, and Ryan believes this can only be mastered with proper training and continued education.

“All of our stylists are artists, but this industry is also very technical,” Ryan said. “It is very important to me that our team is constantly being challenged to be better.”

Ryan’s passions for education and hair extend far beyond the current Flower Mound and Trophy Club locations. As an entrepreneur, future goals include opening multiple locations and creating more jobs, including an education center. The “beauty school dropout” is a term he’d like to see eliminated.

“With an education department, we’d be able to take incredibly talented stylists fresh out of school and send them in the right direction,” Ryan said. “The hair industry can be a lucrative business and turn into a career, but there are so many passionate stylists who eventually leave due to the lack of

“We put so much care into how we run this business and our reputation,” Ryan said. “Trust is the heart of this salon, and we are committed to keeping our client’s needs at the forefront.”

The culmination of years of hard work is represented in the brand Ryan strategically created with David Ryan Salon. The salon experience should be upscale, welcoming, educational, and professional with the simple goal of making people look and feel better about themselves. David Ryan Smith has done just that.

“I love people; I love watching them grow and do what they love to do. That’s the point, isn’t it? Finding what you love and doing it,” Ryan said. “There is nothing better than to watch a hairdresser achieve their goals and being a part of that.”

When Ryan isn’t behind the chair or working on the salons as a business, he and wife, Addison, are passionate about farming. After starting a small farm in Argyle and realizing how much they enjoyed it, they moved Permaculture Pastures to Sunset, Texas and are living another dream come true. With cattle, sheep, chickens, goats, pigs, and bees, they provide quality products for people to enjoy and bring home to their family.

Ryan and Addison have two children, Cohen and Kinley. Ryan says he lives a very blessed life. He is a dreamer and doer and is excited for what the future holds.

When asked what he’d like to be remembered for he simply said, “as someone who never gave up on anyone.”
