Argyle High Working Hard to Repeat History of Excellence
Iwould like to take this opportunity to personally welcome everyone back to school and to the 2023-24 school year!
The new year brings with it a tremendous amount of challenges and opportunities, and we are excited to begin the year. AHS opens its doors this school year to over 1,500 students and almost 125 teachers and staff members.
We are very proud of our accomplishments from the 2022-23 school year, which included winning our 11th straight UIL Lone Star Cup and our 13th cup overall. We also made history this past year becoming the first school in UIL history to win the LSC in their first year in a higher classification. Needless to say, we are excited about the challenges that await all of us this school year!
Our student-athletes, band members, cheerleaders, and fine arts members have already put in a great amount of work over the summer and early fall. Games, events, and competitions have begun, and AHS has already experienced a great amount of success.
Our football, volleyball, and tennis teams are all ranked in the Top 10 in Class 5A, and our band is working extremely hard each morning with the goal of defending their state championship this year. Our cross country teams have already experienced great performances and are primed to represent AHS well as the fall progresses.
Please mark your calendars now for our school-wide open house on Monday, Sept. 25. This will be a great opportunity
John King, Principal Argyle High Schoolfor parents to meet the faculty, staff, and counselors of AHS. Also, weekend of Sept. 28-Oct. 1, our Theater department will present Cinderella, and you will not want to miss this amazing performance.
As always, I want to thank you for the opportunity to work with your student this year. It is a privilege and an honor to help lead Argyle High School.
I want you to know that my door is always open, and I welcome your input on the happenings of our school.
Thank you for your continued support — GO EAGLES!
— John King, PrincipalNew Assistant Principal
Laura Nelson joined Argyle High School this summer as one of the campus’ new Assistant Principals.
Ms. Nelson served the past 10 years at Forestwood Middle School in Lewisville ISD. She taught 8th grade Math and Honors Algebra and served as the math department
head. She was the Forestwood Teacher of the Year for the 2017-18 school year. She has a Masters in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Nelson replaces Taylor Gilbreath, who will serve as Sixth Grade Center Asst. Principal.
New Classification5AME SUCCESS!
Argyle High School was officially crowned the University Interscholastic League Lone Star Cup Champions on June 30, 2023. In impressive fashion, Argyle won the award in its first year competing in Class 5A.
Argyle’s run of excellence in winning this award is extraordinary. The Eagles have won the award 13 times and extended their state-record consecutive streak to 11. AHS is tied with Highland Park for the most titles in state history in any classification.
Additionally, this is also the first time in Lone Star Cup history (started in 199798) that a school has won in its first year after moving to a higher classification.
“This is a huge honor and accomplishment for Argyle High School,” said former Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright. “Talented students, supportive parents, and dedicated coaches and directors have made this achievement possible. AHS students are proud to participate and contribute points to the winning of the Cup. Fine Arts, UIL Academic Team, Band, Cheer, and Athletics have all contributed to the accumulation of points. It is very exciting
to see the enthusiasm and pride generated by the students and coaches.”
The Lone Star Cup honors the most successful high school in all six classifications based on team competition results in academics, athletics, and fine arts.
The Eagles earned 96 overall points and finished five points ahead of Lucas Lovejoy, which finished second. Montgomery Lake Creek was third with 84 points, Frisco Reed was fourth with 81, and Comal Smithson Valley and Frisco Wakeland tied for fifth with 76 points.
Argyle earned state championships in UIL Academics and UIL Film. The Eagle baseball team finished as the state runner-up, football was a state semi-finalist, and the Eagle golf team
finished fifth at state. The Argyle Marching Band also earned 14 points for winning the state championship in the 2021-22 school year. Marching Band points are counted in consecutive years to account for noncompetition years.
“Being the Lone Star Cup Champion is the goal of Argyle High School every year because the Cup stands for excellence,” said Argyle High School Principal John King. “This award is the culmination of hours and hours of hard work and dedication, and I could not be more proud of our students, teachers, coaches, and directors for winning the Lone Star Cup during our very first year in Class 5A.”
Each winning school is presented with a trophy and a $1,000 scholarship. The UIL presented the trophy during the Sept. 1 Eagle football game.
Points are awarded for: Team Tennis, Cross Country, Marching Band, Military Marching Band, Volleyball, Robotics BEST, Football, Congress, Spirit, Swimming & Diving, Wrestling, Mariachi, Film, Basketball, Robotics FIRST, Soccer, Academics, One-Act Play, Theatrical Design, Track & Field, Golf, Tennis, Softball and Baseball.
Argyle Middle Eager for Exciting Year
This is going to be an exciting year at Argyle Middle School. The start of this school year has looked a little different than previous years. With the opening of the new Sixth Grade Center, we have experienced a big change at the start of each school day. Because we did not bring on an entirely new grade this year, our transition between classes has
gone very smoothly. Students know their schedules and are doing a great job of navigating our campus hallways.
There are 10 new employees on our AMS campus. This group is excited to be here and full of energy.
We continue preparation for the opening of the new middle school for the 2025-26 school year. Argyle ISD administration has met with architects of the new campus twice as the design for this new campus begins to take shape.
The new middle school will be built on the north side of FM 407, just to the east of I-35W. The site will eventually share the space with
Scott Gibson, Principal Argyle Middle SchoolElementary School #5 since it is a 50-acre parcel of land.
The planning stages are very informative. Not only have architects met with administrators, but they also heard from each AMS department and each specialty area within our school. While 2025 may seem far off, in reality, that means we are only in this current building one more school year beyond this year.
We look forward to using this building for the next two years and planning for the future in our new building.
Let’s make the 2023-24 school year the best yet!
Day of Learning Teaching the Teachers
The Argyle ISD District Day of Learning on August 14 provided a day of educational enrichment and camaraderie for teachers across the district. Hosted at Argyle High School, educators had the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of courses covering various subjects. The event was coordinated by the dedicated Learner Services team, led by Assistant Superintendent Dr. Dawn Jordan, along with skilled members Vanessa Branch, Lindsay Carrier, Kelly Dillaman, and Justine Holland.
The occasion allowed teachers to explore courses aligned with their personal and professional interests. From innovative teaching techniques to classroom technology insights, the Day of Learning addressed the diverse passions of Argyle’s educators. Dr. Jordan’s leadership, alongside the thoughtful planning of her team, fostered an environment of intellectual curiosity and personal growth within the school.
In addition to the classroom sessions, Learner Services provided a lunch selection of food trucks, including Smashville, F&F Express, Ragin Casian, G’s Brunch Truck, Smokin’ Joes, and Bobaddiction.
“The District Day of Learning was a big hit,” Dr. Jordan said. “The feedback on the exit survey was very positive and gave us some good suggestions on how to improve next year. Positive comments included that it was valuable and time well spent. They loved hearing from their peers, and the food trucks were fun. They were exhausted after a full day of learning but appreciated the time to improve their practice! We look forward to growing and improving this PD opportunity next year.”
The event’s success highlighted the unwavering dedication of Argyle’s teachers in their pursuit of excellence. Beyond
strengthening the connections among educators, the District Day of Learning further revitalized their commitment to nurturing the students of Argyle ISD as they prepared for the return of students that following Thursday.
Through the District Day of Learning, Argyle ISD teachers reaffirmed their commitment to lifelong learning, showcasing a dedication to growing together through collaborative learning. These experiences enriched educators’ professional journeys and the wider educational community, embodying a collective passion to inspire future generations.
Sixth Grade Center Creating New Traditions
Hello Argyle Eagles!
We hope everyone is well and filled with excitement for the 2023-24 school year. We are thrilled to welcome you to the Argyle Sixth Grade Center (SGC) for an exciting new chapter as we open our newly renovated 6th grade campus!
Our campus has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last year, creating a bright and welcoming learning environment to meet the needs of our 6th graders. Our commitment to maintaining high educational standards remains unwavering.
Mrs. Taylor Gilbreath is our Assistant Principal. She was an assistant principal at Argyle High School, and previously taught 6th grade. She is excited to work with the 6th graders during this pivotal year in their life and educational journey. We are happy to have her experience and knowledge on our team.
Officer Brandon St. John joined the Argyle ISD Police Department this year after serving at the Haltom City Police Department for 20 years. He is a tremendous asset to our campus and has jumped right in getting to know our students.
We have a teaching and support staff of 45 Eagles at SGC. Our experienced and enthusiastic team of 6th grade teachers and staff are ready to guide your child through this important transition year. Each is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported to reach their full potential.
As we embark on this first year of the middle school years, SGC is truly an extension of Argyle Middle School, and there is a higher level of expectation for independence and responsibility.
Your student will need to remember to bring their charged Chromebook every day, bring pre-athletic clothes, practice their band instrument, and keep up with homework. We believe that your involvement is essential to your child’s success. We encourage you to be an active participant in your child’s educational journey. Our open communication policy strives to ensure you are informed about your
Holly Williams, Principal SixthGrade Center
child’s progress, achievements, and any areas where they may need support.
We have plans to establish experiences and traditions for the 6th graders while they are here at SGC — ranging from special events and theme days to community projects and leadership opportunities. We aim to create lasting memories and instill valuable life skills. We are looking at potentially starting clubs once a month during our 2nd period Eagle Time.
We are excited about the possibilities the Sixth Grade Center brings and look forward to partnering with you to create a successful and memorable year for your child. Together, we can continue to uphold the high standards that Argyle ISD is known for and create new traditions for our 6th graders.
Thank you for your trust and continued support. Let’s have an amazing year!
Go Eagles!
— Warm regards, Holly Williams
Icon Meets the Future Sixth Grade Center Revives ISD History
The iconic campus located at 800 Eagle Drive has taken on a fresh purpose this academic school year. Reopening its doors as the Argyle ISD Sixth Grade Center after a remarkable renovation, this historic campus has taken on a new journey as the exclusive learning environment to the district’s 420 sixth graders. The move has been met with excitement from both students and the community, making it the sixth campus in the district.
The decision to establish a dedicated Sixth Grade Center comes as Argyle ISD continues to adjust to its growth with over 5,300 students now enrolled in the district. Previously, the sixth graders shared the halls with the seventh and eighth graders at Argyle Middle School, so this leaves room at AMS for them.
The reopening of this campus brings a sense of nostalgia to the community, reminding long-time residents of the district’s beginnings while embracing a forward-looking vision. As the district’s only school when it opened in 1990, the campus at 800 Eagle Drive is a symbol of history, learning, community, and progress. It also was home to the district’s administration offices, which are now located close to the AHS campus on Canyon Falls Drive.
Principal Holly Williams and Assistant Principal Taylor Gilbreath are more than thrilled to be leading the way on the reopening of this campus. Their commitment to fostering an amazing educational experience for all of their students has shined brightly with the incredibly smooth and successful start that the campus has had. Their leadership has paved the way for an incredible year.
Argyle South ON FIRE TO LEARN
Iam SO excited to be the Principal at Argyle South Elementary. We are focusing on three main goals this year:
1. Maintain a positive, supportive environment where staff, students, and families know they are valued. (We are Argyle South y’all!)

3. Provide an engaging educational experience focused on student growth, academic excellence, and high expectations. (At ASE, we are Always Striving for Excellence!)
We have had a fantastic, fun, and successful start at ASE! I’ve come to the

They are ready to teach and learn as soon as the sun rises. We begin each day fired up at 7 am, ready to welcome over 900 students! We end our days sweating at after-school pick-up with full hearts and minds. There is already a strong sense of belonging and family.
I hope to meet each South family at one of our events this year.

• Grandparents Day Parade
• House Meetings
• Watch Dogs Launch Party
• Math and Literacy Night
• Book Fair
• Read-a-Thon

Breaking Ground at Future ES#4
Argyle ISD held a community groundbreaking event in May in Harvest! It was an exciting day for the future of our growing district as additional elementary instructional space is needed.
Thank you to our special guests who attended. It was great to see our community walking and biking to the event. This campus is the kickoff project from the 2022 voter-approved bond package.
The new campus is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 in Northlake. The school will be located at the corner of Cleveland Gibbs Road & 17th Street. ES #4 will serve students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.
Hilltop Elementary Energy Through the Roof
Hilltop Families, Welcome Back!
What a great start to what will be a GREAT school year on the HILL. I am always so excited for the start of the new school year as we get to welcome our students and families back on campus.
During Meet the Teacher Nights, I remember how excited I was to see our families again. Your energy in the building was through the roof. I really want to thank you for your positivity and excitement when you walk into the school. You always fill our cups.
I am very excited to welcome our new Superintendent, Dr. Courtney Carpenter, to our school district. I hope that you get the opportunity to meet her. I love Dr. Carpenter’s quote that we will “Honor the past while we build the future.” This perfectly describes Hilltop and our district. I think this is a great way to think about how we embrace the new changes that are yet to come.
Speaking of new changes to Hilltop… our new playgrounds are beautiful, and I’ve been told by many students that the new equipment is so much fun. We are grateful to the voters for passing the
2020 Bond which allowed us to revamp our playground.
In the classrooms, our teachers have worked hard to create the best academic environment for your students, which will allow them to soar. Thank you for sharing your children with us.
If you ever have a concern or a question, do not hesitate to reach out to your teacher, the front office, Assistant Principal Kimberly McCage, or myself. We want to work together with you to help create the best experience for your child and for you.
It’s a GREAT day on the HILL!

Welcome Dr. Courtney Carpenter!
As you embark on this journey as Superintendent, what’s the one thing you’re most looking forward to experiencing alongside our students, teachers, and families in Argyle ISD?
Honoring the past while we create the future! With a solid foundation already in place at Argyle ISD, I am excited about the energy and enthusiasm for the pursuit of continued excellence and high expectations.
You started your educational journey as an elementary math teacher in Pittsburg ISD. What was your favorite classroom memory from the days of chalk dust and math puzzles?
My fondest memories of my early days in the classroom are those where I witnessed academic and social growth in my students. Third grade was such a fun grade level to teach because my students were growing into their own individual learning styles, and that taught me the necessity to teach math in various ways.
You and your husband Craig are both
educators, and your children Kelsey and Kasen are both college athletes. Could you offer some advice or strategies for families who are also juggling multiple commitments?
Lots of family meetings and scheduling. It has always been a priority for our family to find a balance between profession and family and become extremely efficient with our time management. From their early ages, my husband and I were committed to making sure we scheduled in advance and took turns supporting our own children when schedules conflicted with each other. As they have now both entered the world of college athletics, the same processes hold true…. Balance, commitment, and time management! That’s when a Google Sheet comes in very handy and every event, both professional and personal, is charted and scheduled in advance.
Do you have a teacher that impacted you as a student?
My freshman Algebra I teacher, Mr. Wallace was also my basketball coach.
Coach Wallace was an engaging math teacher and really helped me discover my love for math. He was a great encourager, while holding very high expectations of his students and athletes. I learned a great deal from him. Most importantly, he taught me to “control what I could control” and that was my attitude and effort. Every day!
As someone who’s had a dynamic career journey, from math teacher to superintendent, what’s your advice for achieving success as an educator?
Set high expectations for yourself and those around you. Stay visionary, never give up, and don’t settle for “this is just the way we’ve always done it.” Listen to understand, not listen just to respond.
You’ve worked with different age groups and held various roles in education. If you could time-travel back to one of your early teaching years, what advice would you give your younger self?
Students of all ages need compassionate, trustworthy, dependable adults in their lives. Be consistent and fair, model grace, and hold yourself to the high expectations you expect of your students.
In your first weeks in Argyle ISD, what immediately caught your attention?
Energy. Excellence. Expectations. Family. The culture is second to none, and the attitudes of everyone I have met are “can do!”
Our slogan/motto for 2023 is “TogetherWeSoar.” What does this motto mean to you, and how do you think it reflects the spirit of Argyle ISD?
When we met as a leadership team this summer, we spent a great deal of time talking about the areas Argyle ISD “glows” and the areas in our future where we will need to “grow.” Collectively, the conversations centered around Eagles “soar” to new heights each day, and raising the bar is a mentality in Argyle ISD. Additionally, with the growth we are facing as a district, “together” is how we move forward. We will honor the past together, and we will create the future together.
Even Superintendents need to refuel from time to time. What’s your personal recharge ritual to keep your energy “soaring high?”
A healthy balance between work and personal life, healthy lifestyle habits, sleep, and exercise.
Favorite thing to do away from work?
Attending games and watching my own college-age children compete in areas they love. Exercising and being outdoors with my family are my favorite things!
Favorite food or treat?
Snack — chips and salsa.
Food — steak & baked potato.
Drink — strawberry limeade.
Treat — Butterfinger Blizzard.
Coffee or tea?
Not a coffee or tea drinker! I’m a water girl and occasionally a regular Coke!
Mountains or beach? Beach
Summer or winter? Summer
Dr. Dawn Jordan
Assistant Superintendent NEW
Dr. Dawn Jordan was unanimously appointed by the Argyle ISD Board of Trustees in June to become the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. This caps her four-year tenure as a principal in AISD, which included overseeing the successful launch of Argyle South Elementary in 2022-23.
Dr. Jordan, with over 21 years of educational experience and more than a decade in leadership roles, succeeded Dr. Deana Steeber, who departed to lead Sulphur Springs ISD in May.
Before arriving in Argyle ISD, Dr. Jordan served as an elementary principal in Lewisville ISD for two years and three years in Mississippi. She was named the
2018 LISD PTA Principal of the Year and being nominated for LISD Principal of the Year in 2019. While serving as a principal at Pascagoula-Gautier ISD (Mississippi), she implemented a school-wide literacy plan and built an English as a Second Language parent group.
While at the new South Elementary, she helped implement Professional Learning Communities, initiated Learning Walks to share best practices
for teachers, and developed a campus strategic plan and emergency plan. As the principal at AIS, the campus received an “A” in accountability and all distinctions.
“I am honored to be selected for this position and to join the talent represented on this team,” Dr. Jordan said. “I look forward to contributing to this district’s future and maintaining our exemplary success. Argyle has a very special place in my heart, and I am committed to supporting staff and students as we grow and learn together.”
With her dedication and passion, she anticipates making a profound impact on Argyle ISD’s future, ensuring its continued legacy of educational excellence.
“
I ’m committed to supporting staff and students as we grow and learn together”
Q&A with Dr. Dawn Jordan
Congratulations on stepping into your new role as Assistant Superintendent of Learner Services! What aspect of this new adventure excites you the most?
I am excited to continue the great work done in this department. With growth and the addition of new schools, it is more important than ever that we align our practices. Being part of New Eagle Academy and the District Day of Learning was an exciting way to begin! We have an excellent and dedicated team!
Dr. Jordan, you’ve worn the principal’s hat for multiple Argyle ISD campuses. Can you share a memorable moment or achievement that highlights this district’s spirit of community and innovation?
The growing District Multicultural Fair highlights the beauty of all the cultures that make up Argyle ISD. This event has grown each year. It is an amazing showcase of food, activities, clothing, and language. Our students and families can visit countries around the world just by coming out to enjoy the festival!
In addition to being a principal at different schools, you also have extensive experience in the classroom. What is your favorite memory from your time as a classroom teacher?
One of my high school students, a quiet girl named Briana Burton, told me I made her feel smart. I was happy she was able to gain confidence and realize her potential. You hear about the outstanding teachers who make an impact on students, but there are also wonderful students who make an impact on teachers!
Moving from campus principal to district administration must present new challenges and opportunities. What are your goals and vision for the Learners Services Department?
I worked with my team in Learner Services, along with input from Dr. Carpenter, to determine our vision and create our goals. Our vision is to provide high-quality, engaging learning experiences to foster educators’ growth, enabling them to empower and inspire all students to meet their full potential. The goals we have in place will help us make our vision a reality. Our goals include ongoing improvement to curriculum
documents and handbooks, facilitating strong data analysis practices, building alignment, providing high-quality and equitable resources, and growing our department to include additional curriculum specialists.
Your commitment to learning is evident. What’s your vision for cultivating a culture of ongoing development among teachers and staff within Argyle ISD?
The key to cultivating a culture of ongoing development for teachers is to hear from them about what they need and provide the latest information on best practices and curriculum materials. When teachers have the opportunity to exercise voice and choice, we can better provide them with relevant learning opportunities that will lead to improved job satisfaction and student success.
Our slogan/motto for 2023 is “TogetherWeSoar.” What does this motto mean to you, and how do you think it reflects the spirit of Argyle ISD?
This motto reflects our ongoing commitment to be excellent in all we do. We are passionate about our success. Even though we are a top-performing district in our region and state, we are always trying to improve. We also know the strongest teams work together to achieve their goals. We are growing, but we are growing together.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work and why?
I love being outdoors. At home, I like relaxing on the porch, watching the dogs (and chickens) play, or swimming with my grandchildren. Even our vacations involve a lot of outdoor activities. Whether it’s Hawaii, Colorado, or Arkansas, most of our vacations involve hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding.
What’s the best thing about being an Argyle Eagle?
My favorite thing about being an Argyle Eagle is our sense of family in this district. We are great collaborators, happy to help each other, cheer for everyone’s accomplishments, and provide support during hard times. You can feel this culture of belonging everywhere you go!
EAGLE
Argyle ISD kicked off the start of the new academic year with its inaugural Eagle Bash, a fun and festive event held on August 5 at Argyle High School, which welcomed over 800 community members who were excited to meet fellow Eagles and connect with other community members.
New Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter greeted families with a warm welcome as they entered. She was joined by new Assistant Superintendent Dr. Dawn Jordan, Deputy Superintendent Chris Daniel, and Chief Financial Officer Liz Stewart. Their genuine excitement to meet new families made the occasion a joy for children and parents alike.
BASH
Attendees had the opportunity to take photos with Eddie the Eagle Mascot, AHS Cheerleaders and Majestic Drill Team members. Music from DJ Daniel Cate kept the energy high as local businesses and non-profits offered giveaways and prizes. Campus principals answering questions and connecting with parents and students. The AISD Transportation and Student Nutrition departments gave valuable back-to-school resources.
In an effort to gear up for the new athletic seasons, families were able to purchase the latest Argyle spirit wear. The event also provided food trucks for those interested in indulging in options such as chicken and waffles, snow cones, or hot dogs.
New Chief of Police
Argyle ISD has a new leader for its police department.
Eli Davis was approved as the district’s new Chief of Police and began work in his new role in June.
Officer Davis joined the Argyle ISD Police Department in 2022 and served as the Argyle South Elementary Police Officer. He also taught Law Enforcement at Argyle High School.
Davis will transition to Chief of Police for the 2023-24 school year and serve as the Argyle High School campus officer. He has worked in law enforcement since 2017 in the Flower Mound Police and California Highway Patrol.
During his time with CHP, Davis was a Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, Terrorism Liaison Officer, part of the Special Response Team and was
a MADD Award Recipient. He also served as a Mental Health Officer with the FMPD. Additionally, Davis has past experience working for Crime Alert Security Systems.
“We are excited to announce Officer Davis will be leading our AISD Police Department as the next Police Chief,” former Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright said. “Officer Davis is invested and committed to serving our students, staff and community. He is a dedicated Eagle parent and an active member of the community who will provide valuable leadership to our safety and security team.”
Davis helped lead the opening of South Elementary last school year and established the campus safety and
security protocols. He also played an instrumental role in helping build the campus culture by implementing a kindness initiative for students.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as AISD Police Department’s next Chief of Police,” Davis said. “As I step into this role, I am filled with optimism and confidence.
“The exceptional officers who serve this great district consistently exemplify the very best that law enforcement has to offer. I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff, parents, and community partners to ensure that our schools remain a safe haven for learning and growth.”
Following his hiring, he added additional officers to his department. His replacement at Argyle South Elementary is Gabrielle Williams. She was sworn in at the Aug. 21 School Board meeting.
Brandon St. John also joined the department and was sworn in. He will serve at the Sixth Grade Center, which opened this year after being closed as the former Argyle Intermediate School.

AHS Softball New Coach to Lead Eagles
Argyle High School will have a new leader for its softball program this year. AHS has hired Brianna Barnhill as the next Lady Eagle head coach.
Coach Barnhill previously served as the Grapevine Lady Mustangs’ varsity assistant. The Lady Mustangs were 24-11 and reached the playoffs last season. Prior, she had coached at Williams High School and Plano East. At Williams, a 9th10th grade campus in Plano, she was also Girls’ Athletic Coordinator.
Barnhill is a former three-sport standout athlete at Northwest High School and was an all-conference softball player at Abilene Christian University.
“It is a great honor and privilege to be named head softball coach at Argyle High School,” Barnhill said. “I am looking forward to working with these talented athletes and building on the winning culture established here.”
Barnhill assumes the role previously held by Kevin Cook, who resigned after the 2022-2023 school year. The Lady Eagles reached the Class 5A Region I Quarterfinals last season.
“We are excited to have Coach Barnhill lead the Lady Eagle softball program,“ Assistant Athletics Director Chance Westmoreland said. “Coach Barnhill’s energy and enthusiasm will be a great asset to our program. She brings an incredible softball background as a decorated high school and collegiate player, and coach.”
Coach Barnhill holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology Exercise Physiology from TCU and a Bachelor of
Science in Kinesiology - Health Promotion (Summa Cum Laude) from Abilene Christian University.
“My goal is to not only help each athlete grow their skill set on the field but also help them be successful in the classroom and develop the life skills necessary to confidently step into any role they choose after high school.” Coach Barnhill said.
“I am excited to start this journey together!”
