BLESSINGS

good friend of mine was just telling me about a powerful moment during one of his Denton County small-business networking meetings. As the group slowly went around

the room sharing a little bit about their respective companies, a quiet but very nice dent-repair guy stood up and mentioned that he had moved here years ago from Ukraine. It was clearly his first time to be at a networking meeting, and despite a slight language barrier, he did his best to explain who he was, what he did, and how he could help everyone in the room. Before he could finish, this exchange happened: “I’m sorry to interrupt,” a guest on the other side of the room said. “Did you say you’re from Ukraine?” “Ummm. Yes. Yes, I am.” “Well … I stand with Ukraine. We all do.” The entire room erupted with support for this young man, who undoubtedly was trying to make a living here in America while still being worried about relatives back home in his war-torn country. Even if you’re currently living under a rock, you know what’s going on over there. I won’t go into detail, but the bottom line is that it is very sad. And over the past few weeks, practically the entire nation has come together to support Ukrainians near and far. Regardless of what we all have going on in our lives and which side of the fence we are on politically, religiously, etc., we should all be counting our blessings for the peace we do have here in the United States. Furthermore, we should all be standing for and sending our prayers to the innocent men, women, and children in Ukraine. On behalf of my team at Murray Media, we, too, stand with Ukraine. Thanks for reading this month’s issue!

he love that we have for our treasured fur babies is special. Our pets have been with us

through the good times and the bad. They care for us in a way that no one else can. Because of their importance to us, it’s also essential that we give our pets the best care possible. Unfortunately for some, quality care isn’t an affordable option. That’s why the work that Texas Coalition Animal Protection (TCAP) is so important to the communities of North Texas. TCAP is a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2002 as a low-cost spay and neuter clinic. They originally offered affordable spay and neuter services for both dogs and cats, but have expanded to offer other services such as vaccinations, dental cleaning, microchipping, flea/tick prevention, as well as heartworm testing and prevention. In the intervening

years, TCAP has expanded to eight different standalone locations across North Texas located in Allen, Arlington, Burleson, Denton, Fort Worth, Garland, Hurst, and Weatherford. Even if you don’t live near one of their clinics, chances are that TCAP is never far from your home with one of their travel “MASH” style clinics, “We understand that people have jobs and cannot always make the drive to one of our main clinics, so we make ourselves available throughout DFW at local animal shelters and community centers,” says TCAP Executive Director, Stacey Schumacher. Texas Coalition for Animal Protection contracts licensed veterinarians with extensive surgical experience and who are well-versed in preventative animal care. These licensed veterinarians are supported by TCAP’s highly trained team of compassionate veterinary technicians and assistants. As a non-profit with a team that brings a unique combination of experience, training, and compassion to the table, TCAP is able to offer the highest quality of care for the most affordable price available in DFW. On average, TCAP’s prices are 70% less than a traditional fullservice clinic. TCAP partners with amazing animal shelters and rescue organizations across North Texas. Each TCAP employee along with their compassionate partners is committed to the fight against euthanasia in our local DFW shelters. “The answer to stopping euthanasia and overpopulation starts with prevention,” Schumacher said. Since its opening in 2002, TCAP has been a leader in animal welfare. TCAP provides the lowest prices for preventative animal care throughout the entire North Texas area. TCAP provides these quality services to indigent individuals and families that lack the financial ability to provide the proper animal care that their pets need. cont... quality care is owed greatly to the generosity of the Denton County-based nonprofit’s donors and sponsors. With the pandemic, many families across North Texas suffered financially. Many people lost their jobs and were at a loss on how they were going to provide for themselves and their families, much less their beloved pets. “If you don’t have a job, you may find yourself making the decision to put food on the table for your family or take care of your pet’s basic wellness needs,” says TCAP’s Director of Programs, Robert Knox. “We don’t want to see pets end up in shelters. Our mission is to save lives, and we want to keep families and their pets together as much as possible.” In 2021 alone, TCAP performed 65,681 spay and neuters and more than 147,000 rabies vaccinations for local animals. TCAP’s staff are pet lovers first and foremost. Their entire staff at TCAP is committed to providing the care that your family’s pet deserves. With each low-cost procedure, TCAP is saving lives and keeping families together. With results like that, it’s easy to see why TCAP holds such a special place in the hearts of so many families in North Texas.
