The Fire Department will also be hosting a “Push In” ceremony soon to celebrate its arrival. The fire service is steeped in tradition; the “Push In” ceremony dates back to the early 1800s and symbolizes commissioning the new fire truck into service. Back when steam engines were drawn by horses, many fire departments relied on the help from neighbors to push the engine back into the station after a fire. This tradition has carried on since then and remains evident in these types of ceremonies. The Fire Department and City of Lake Worth both look forward to the contributions this new fire truck will provide over the next decade. The new fire truck will hit the streets this May!
