LOCAL’S SUMMER

Hey Local Break Readers,

Thank you for all the positive feedback on our premiere issue! We’re thrilled with the response and are excited to bring you even more content in this edition. Our goal is to be your go-to local magazine, filled with articles that resonate with our surf community. Keep those suggestions coming—we love hearing from you!

This issue celebrates “Local’s Summer,” my favorite time of the year. With the tourists gone and kids back in school, our coastal waters are at their best. The sun feels softer, the water clearer, and our local marine life thrives. Sometimes, we even get lucky with that perfect offshore wind and perfect waves.

October brings the Boardroom Show to Del Mar, where legendary shaper Bob McTavish will be honored. Don’t miss our feature on him and be sure to stop by our booth and connect with fellow surf enthusiasts. We’re also shining a spotlight on up-and-coming local surfers Noah Hogle and Titus Santucci. Let’s rally behind them as they carve their paths in the surf world.

Another highlight is our piece on Great White sharks that share our waters. With insights from Cal State Long Beach Shark Lab and stunning photography by Scott Fairchild, we aim to educate and dispel fears. Remember, it’s their ocean—they’re the true locals.

We hope you enjoy this issue! So, wax your board, slather on the sunscreen, and make the most of this “Local’s Summer.”

S you out in the water, Elaine
