Welcome to our new issue of Collection. This much-enjoyed celebration of property illustrates some of the amazing homes that Mayfair Group member firms are offering for sale all over the world. Despite great challenges ahead for countries and economies around the globe there are real signs that spring is definitely on its way, and large numbers of our offices are reporting a distinct upturn in activity.The property market has been through a long hard winter. In fact in some areas it could better be described as a hibernation. But now there are sure signs of re-birth. The London property market, such an indicator of things to come across the UK and also to a certain extent internationally, is showing clear signs of recovery. These may be tentative steps forward, but they are steps forward - with evidence of multiple full price offers being made for houses and apartments in all price ranges. This suggests that many buyers who have sat on their hands for quite a while now feel compelled to act while interest rates are still at their historic low. There is a lack of inventory in some areas but this is helping to focus buyers and tempting sellers to engage with the market. So it’s a busy time ahead for all of us in property and I hope that this issue of Collection whets your appetite for a move this year to a fabulous new home.

Relieving poverty among street children in ombasa Glad’s House is a British charity working on the ground in Mombasa, Kenya, to improve the lives of the city’s street children. It aims to lift many of the estimated 35,000 street children out of a life of hopeless poverty and give them the chance of a real childhood. Living in intolerable conditions, separated or orphaned from their parents, they spend their lives in a daily struggle to eat and find shelter, often falling into petty crime or prostitution. Established in 2006, Glad’s House aims to provide a place of safety for many of these children, giving them

the opportunity to enjoy their childhood while preparing them for a productive and self-sufficient adulthood. Glad’s House employs social workers to undertake street work, building relationships of trust with those coming to the charity’s refuge. The current temporary Glad’s House ‘base’, provides a day centre, feeding programme and a ‘safe haven’ for up to 75 children at a time. It also believes sport is a great way to improve lives. Partnering with MOYO (Mombasa Olympic Youth Organisation) the charity provides sports kit and funding for boxing, football, basketball, volleyball and rugby teams. This helps provide the motivation to stay away from drugs and crime whilst enjoying a

very real break from their day-to-day existence. We are always looking for partners and sponsors help with our ongoing initiatives.
