Fathers are tempted to eat while they cook, but its ok! Fathers in the Christian faith are encouraged to cook, even if it means once in a while. I know fathers that like cooking more than their wives do. I have also heard of some that would cook for the family on special days such as the mothers day, fathers day, when its the wife’s birthday, etc. One meal on a special day for your wife or family strengthen family ties.
Pastors encourage fathers to participate in kitchen chores. You don’t have to be a qualified chef to cook a meal or part of it for your family. Woman like it when you are with them in the kitchen, taking instructions on how to prepare a particular dish. Make the mistakes and its ok. How nice for the wife to get a chance to give justified instructions. The common temptation for man is to start eating the food while cooking. This is partly justified by the need to taste whether spices have been measured correctly and that the food is ready or not. The tendency for fathers is not to time their cooking, even under instructions from the main cook, the wife. You’d want to test how well you do before everybody else so that if you can, you can make adjustments. Sadly for the father cook, adding spices does not normally correct the mistakes. Woman often don’t mind when the man makes mistakes or even start to eat the food in small bits while cooking. This practice and in itself it is not wrong. The only downfall is when the man is full before dishing. This robs him the pleasure of enjoying the meal with the family in the table. Most often he would sit down to eat with them but take much less food than he would. Another possibly is that of having stomach discomfort from eating half cooked food. Yes is okay for man to cook for the family. Christianity promotes that practice. The Bible promotes helping each other in the family. So then, go ahead and try your cooking skills in the comfort of your home. It is a blessing, fun and pleasing to your family.
holiness for church fathers
The perfect guide on holiness is the Bible. What would you do if what your pastor tells you lands you in hell? It is too bad that then you would not have a chance to change your eternal destination. When you stand before God in the judgment day, He wont be asking you about your pastor’s teaching, but about your own life on earth. There is a danger in relying on Church doctrine or someone else’s teachings that the word of God. Bible examples are often referred to as early church teaching. I strongly recommend that you take early church teachings to heart and live as the Holy Spirit leads you. In this issue, we shall take a look at Clement Rome on the holiness subject. After the closing of the book of the New Testament, it seems almost as if the Church had entered a dark tunnel of obscurity. The torch that had flamed forth from the hillsides of Judea was not eclipsed by the uncertainty of our knowledge of the history of those days, but it has continued to radiate its holy light to this day. We know very little of the history of the Church from the closing events of the Book of the Acts of the Apostles until the second decade of the next century. As we emerge from the shadows of the dark period following the days of the apostles, we find a number of writings which were written by the Apostolic Fathers. They were so-called because they immediately followed and were acquainted with the apostles. The earliest of these is Clement of Rome.
In the days of John the Church was already leaving its first love. Doubtless many, if not most, of those of the church at Corinth were living holy lives, but he would have them all united in this. He begins his epistle as follows: The Church of God which is at Rome to the Church of God which is at Corinth, elect, sanctified, by the will of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord: grace and peace from the Almighty God, by Jesus Christ be multiplied unto you. Holiness Instead of Strife Chapter forty-six is an exhortation for unity and holiness instead of division and strife. Wherefore it will behoove us also, brethren, to follow such examples as these; for it is written, “Hold fast to such as are holy; for they that do so shall be sanctified.” And again in another place He saith, “With the pure thou shalt be pure (and with the elect thou shalt be elect), but with the perverse man thou shalt be perverse.” Let us therefore join ourselves to the innocent and righteous; for such as are elected of God. Just before closing his epistle, his soul cries out in prayer, Guide thou our footsteps to walk in holiness and righteousness and singleness of heart, and to do all things that are good and wellpleasing in Thy sight and the sight of our rulers. Yea, Lord, show Thy countenance upon us for good in peace, that we may be sheltered by Thy mighty hand and delivered from all sin by Thy lifted up arm, and deliver us from those who hate us unrighteously.
Tip for the week Watch out for the burnout on the good that you do for yourself and your family. It is always easy not to do the right thing than it is to do it. For anything that you do and feel it improves the life of your family, makes you live healthier and is delightful to God, that you must do. Do not tire in doing God (Galatians 6:9). The business man that makes extra just to take out his family once a month should do so tirelessly. It takes an effort and it is always worth it if it benefits the family.
