Desegindako oroitzapenaren aurrean: Memoria eta Gerra Zibila erakusketan parte hartzen duten artistek urte askotako isiltasuna apurtu eta Gerra Zibilaren gaia aukeratu dute lanerako. Artelanen abiapuntua ezberdina da kasu bakoitzean: batzuek gerran gertatutakoaren gaineko hausnarketa egin nahi izan dute, beste batzuek gerrak utzitako aztarnak, luzaroan ezkutuan egon direnak, erakutsi nahi izan dituzte. Edonola ere, guztiek aldarrikatzen dituzte memoria ariketak gure orainaldia hobeto ulertzeko. Hala, izenburuak dioen moduan, desegindako oroitzapenak berriz harilkatzeko moduak proposatzen dizkigute artistek, gerrako gertakizun latzek utzitako zauriak osatzeko modua izan daitezkeelakoan. Memoria nola gorde, horixe da artisten kezka nagusia. Nork bere erara, artearen baliabideak erabili dituzte kontatzeko, irudikatzeko, memoria-lekuak eraikitzeko, antzezteko edo sentimenduak azaltzeko. Bide horretatik datozkigu oroimenera duela 80 urte piztutako biolentzia eta izua, baina, batez ere, bide horretatik datozkigu 80 urtez izuak isilik eta ezkutuan eduki dituen gertaera, sentipen eta emozioak.

El tema de la Guerra Civil y sus consecuencias han sido extraños para muchos de los artistas que han trabajado tras el final de la dictadura de Franco. El silencio impuesto por lo que se llamó transición a la democracia parece haber calado, con excepciones, en el mundo del arte hasta hace relativamente pocos años. Los artistas que participan en la exposición Ante el recuerdo desmantelado: Memoria y Guerra Civil rompen con ese silencio, vuelven sus miradas a lo ocurrido en la guerra y al silencio en el que se sumió gran parte de la población víctima de la guerra en el bando de los vencidos y los que sufrieron las consecuencias del régimen dictatorial durante 40 años. Por medio de imágenes, vídeos, performances, fotografías, etc. se desvela el deseo de reflexionar sobre el dolor, la injusticia, los temas pendientes, los homenajes a las víctimas, etc. con la esperanza de que el arte pueda ayudar a mitigar el dolor y comunicar a la sociedad que el hilo de la memoria une el presente con el pasado.
EL ARTE DE LA MEMORIA
The topic of the Spanish Civil War and its consequences has proven an unusual one for many artists working after the end of Franco’s dictatorship. With a few notable exceptions, the silence imposed by the so-called ‘transition to democracy’ seems to have been internalised by the art world until relatively recently. The artists participating in the Confronting Dismantled Memories: Remembrance and Civil War exhibition now break this silence, turning their gaze back to what happened during the war and to the silence which engulfed a large part of the population on the losing side, who suffered the consequences of the ensuing dictatorial regime for 40 long years.
La question de la Guerre civile Espagnole et ses conséquences ont été étranges pour un grand nombre d’artistes qui ont travaillé après la fin de la dictature de Franco. Le silence imposé par ce que l’on appela la « transition vers la démocratie » semble avoir été compris, à quelques exceptions près, dans le monde de l’art jusqu’à il y a quelques années à peine. Les artistes qui participent à l’exposition Face au souvenir démantelé : Mémoire et Guerre Civile brisent ce silence, tournent leurs regards sur ce qui s’est passé pendant la guerre et sur le silence dans lequel baigna une grande partie de la population victime de la guerre dans le camp des vaincus et de ceux qui subirent les conséquences du régime dictatorial pendant 40 ans. Grâce aux images, vidéos, performances, photos, etc., l’exposition dévoile le souhait de réfléchir sur la douleur, l’injustice, les questions en suspens, les hommages aux victimes, etc. dans l’espoir que l’art puisse aider à atténuer la douleur et communiquer au public que le fil de la mémoire relie le présent au passé.

Through images, videos, performances and photographs, etc., the exhibition reflects their desire to examine the pain and injustice experienced, tackle unresolved issues and pay tribute to the victims, in the hope that art can alleviate some of the suffering felt and help society understand that memory is a thread that joins the present to the past.
