Under the slogan In memory of the bombing of Gernika we present the programme for the 85th anniversary of the bombing by the Gernika Peace Museum Foundation this 2022. For many years now, we have been highlighting what the men and women who survived the bombing of Gernika have passed on, their testimonies, their desire not to forget, transmitting - in different ways - what happened and what they have learnt to the new generations.
Sous la devise en mémoire du bombardement de Gernika, nous présentons le programme du 85ème anniversaire du bombardement de la Fondation Musée de la Paix de Gernika en 2022. Depuis de nombreuses années, nous valorisons ce qui a été transmis par les hommes et les femmes qui ont survécu au bombardement de Guernica, leurs témoignages, leur désir de ne pas oublier, transmettant - de diverses manières - ce qui s'est passé et ce qu'ils ont appris aux nouvelles générations.

A ship, over two thousand refugees. A history. The artist invites us to learn about the experiences of other survivors of the human journey of the ship Winnipeg. It is based on the personal narratives and the unveiling of the memory of her refugee grandfather Antonio Zabaleta. Antonio was a young man from Bermeo, 19 years old when he arrived in Chile, and who lived through the bombing of Gernika. In order to do so, she expressively uses a clear and suggestive language based on illustration, collage and acrylic creations, interlined

fragments

Un bateau, plus de deux mille réfugiés. Une histoire. L’artiste nous invite à connaître et constater les expériences d’autres survivants de cette traversée humaine du bateau Winnipeg, à partir des narrations personnelles et de l’éveil de la mémoire de son grand-père réfugié Antonio Zabaleta, un jeune basque de 19 ans à son arrivée au Chili, apres avoir vecu le bombardement de Guernica. "The bombing of Gernika" The aim of this material is to raise awareness of the bombing of Gernika. "The Civil War through cartoons"
We will approach the subject of the Civil War through the graphic cartoons in the exhibition Viñetas para el recuerdo (Vignettes for remembrance). The humorous vignettes in the press are a very attractive tool, as they summarise a lot of information in a single image and using humour. In this case, they will help us to deal with the art of the early 20th century and to understand humour as a political and opinion-making strategy.
