US FREEDOM PAVILION: THE BOEING CENTER

RANKED #4 MUSEUM IN THE UNITED STATES

CAMPAIGNS OF COURAGE: ROAD TO TOKYO EXHIBIT

Dear

Friends,

When my best friend Stephen Ambrose and I got together to create The National D-Day Museum more than two decades ago, neither of us envisioned how this educational institution would grow into what it is today. It’s been an amazing journey!

In 2004, Congress designated us "America's National WWII Museum,” and we kick-started our capital expansion and program development to cover the entire American experience in the war that changed the world. This summer, we are delighted to celebrate another milestone in the evolution of The National WWII Museum – our newest exhibit, The Arsenal of Democracy: The Herman and George Brown Salute to the Home Front. Opening in June 2017 in the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion, The Arsenal of Democracy will tell the story of America’s road to war , the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the transformative Home Front experience, drawing on personal narratives and evocative artifacts, and employing the latest in exhibit technology. The opening will be part of a momentous week at the Museum, featuring our special guest Tom Brokaw. I invite you to join us in New Orleans on this very special occasion and witness the culmination of many key Museum initiatives. This extended visit will include an exciting outing on Lake Pontchartrain on PT-305, America's only fully-restored combat-veteran Patrol Torpedo boat from World War II, as well as touring of The Arsenal of Democracy and immersive exhibits in another recently completed pavilion, Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters. I look forward to seeing you in June! Sincerely,

Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller, PhD President & CEO, The National WWII Museum

PRIVATE PERFORMANCE

THE VICTORY BELLES AT BB’S STAGE DOOR CANTEEN Bette Davis served the desserts. Marlene Dietrich and Lauren Bacall danced the night away. Red Skelton told the jokes and Bing Crosby crooned. The place was the original Stage Door Canteen and the guests were a steady stream of GIs headed off to war. Many were leaving home for the first time and the Canteen offered a welcome opportunity to forget their anxieties—if only for a moment—with entertainment, fellowship and a little American spirit. Our guests will honor this memorable wartime tradition with a private dinner and exciting performance by the Victory Belles vocal trio in the Museum's own BB Stage Door Canteen.
