All Souls Unitarian Church and Musica Viva NY have three soloist vacancies! Auditions will be held via Zoom on May 19 and May 26. The choir is a mix of professional singers and skilled volunteers. We sing Sunday mornings as part of the All Souls music program, and three times a year on the Musica Viva NY concert series. We'll hear auditions for the following voice types: soprano 1 alto 1 alto 2 All other voice types are welcome to submit materials for upcoming sub list auditions to be announced at a later date. Please submit the following by Sun May 16 to Bryan McNamara at bryan@allsoulsnyc.org: - 2 recordings of you performing pieces in contrasting styles (accompaniment welcome but not required) - 1 piece should be in a language other than English - resume with choral experience Recording quality should be high enough that it accurately represents your musicianship. We do not expect studio-level recordings (though those are acceptable). No preference or bias will be held based on recording quality. Zoom audition will include: - Vocalizing upon request - We may ask to hear excerpts of either or both pre-screening selections. These excerpts do not need to be performed with accompaniment. Job includes: - Once-weekly evening rehearsal - Sunday morning rehearsal, two services 10:00am and 11:15am - concerts with Musica Viva NY (contracted separately) - Pay is competitive with all NYC churches Sunday services are expected to resume in September, pending the state of the pandemic. Services may be livestreamed, and may be held in front of congregational members. Strict safety precautions will be followed for all present, including masks, distanced singing, temperature checks, and isolated areas for singers to rest in between services. Remote recording projects may be assigned, again depending on the pandemic.
