DUCKS DELUXE celebrated their 40th Anniversary in 2012. One of the first pub rock bands, the Ducks played basic American-style blues and boogie with remarkable panache and thorough disregard for convention. They were hugely popular, revered by both press and peers alike and hugely successful throughout the UK and Europe. Their two bestselling RCA albums, 'Ducks Deluxe' and the Dave Edmunds produced, 'Taxi To The Terminal Zone' are considered classics of their time. They had a heavy influence on the English punk scene that was right around the corner before their members went on to found other prominent bands like Graham Parker & the Rumour, the Motors and the Tyla Gang. Southside Fringe Glasgow May 10-26 We are a group of creative Southside professionals giving our time to build a Southside Fringe Festival to run in tandem with and complement the Southside Festival in May 2013. Working closely with Public-I Events and Media, we will act as an agency, bringing together venues and performers. The Southside Fringe is focused upon providing a fortnight of quality opportunities for acts, performers and musicians in May 2013. It’s an incredibly exciting time in the Southside with fantastic new venues The Glad Café and The Bungo actively encouraging creativity and supporting local Southside talent. The ethos of the Southside Fringe is very much ‘strength in numbers’ : the more facets of the community and local businesses who get involved the louder our voice and the bigger the Southside’s profile will be on the festival map. www.southsidefringe.org.uk

Scribblers Picnic Stirling

The annual Isle of Skye Accordion and Fiddle Festival just goes from strength to strength. The festival has built up a superb reputation for the quality and quantity of music, fine venues and hospitality and most of all a friendly and happy family atmosphere where old friendships are rekindled and new friendships formed through the mutual love of the music.

Like many others, the Fling was conceived with the help of music and alcohol. It began as an idea at the Dunblane Folk Club, among a group of people fond of music and fun. And so in May 1993 the first Fling happened. Since then the Fling has gone from strength to strength. Somewhere along the line the first 'Fling by the River' began. Held each Fling Saturday on Dunblane's historic Drying Green, its activities www.skyemusic.co.uk/festival.asp have ranged from an open stage for www.scribblerspicnic.co.uk local young musicians, fire engines, space-hopper races and fire-eating jugglers, to the annual Rotary Club Orkney Folk Festival race for 4,000 plastic ducks down Orkney Perth Festival the Allan Water.
