and passion for old-time music. Like Bruce, Allison loves collaborating and bringing new ideas to old music, and brings a fresh approach to the trio. Boston-based STASH WYSLOUCH is one of bluegrass’ great young genre-bending pioneers. He got his start as a guitarist in metal bands before immersing himself in roots music as a member of The Deadly Gentlemen. Coming over from the punk-metal world, Stash brings great sensitivity and real emotion to the trio, plus some superb guitar and vocal chops. The Soundhouse Organisation is currently raising money to provide a live music venue in Edinburgh - The Soundhouse will be a new state-of-the-art music venue for Edinburgh, offering a fair deal for musicians, and a warm welcome to audiences of all ages. DJ DOLPHIN BOY featuring GRAEME STEPHEN: At Traverse Theatre Bar, Edinburgh. 8pm. “DJ Dolphin Boy is a unique entity. His openminded musicality and ability to make even the folkiest of dirges sexy means he’s loved by the folkies and jazzers as well as by the hardcore clubbers on the dance floor“– Aidan O’Rourke. “Stephen’s music speaks loudly of ambition, imagination, nous, and harmonic adventure yet teemed with the sort of tuneful realisation that swells the heart” – Rob Adams, The Herald. Andy Levy aka DOLPHIN BOY has been a producer and DJ for more than 20 years, and in that time he has pulled off the neat trick of evolving and innovating whilst his early work remains as fresh as ever. GRAEME STEPHEN’s peerless improvisational skills and talent for composition make him one of Scotland’s most exciting and prodigious musical talents. He is a very unusual jazz guitarist in that he is as skilled and comfortable playing in a virtuoso way over standards and chord changes, as he is heading into completely free improvised soundscapes. The Soundhouse Organisation is currently raising money to provide a live music venue in Edinburgh - The Soundhouse will be a new state-of-the-art music venue for Edinburgh, offering a fair deal for musicians, and a warm welcome to audiences of all ages. Revelling in the jubilant reception to their sophomore record - JAWS - are delighted to announce a fresh run of UK dates that will extend their Simplicity Tour. The news also follows the recent unveiling of the band’s video for current single ‘Cast’. Like much of the album it stems from, ‘Cast’ is a sonic manifestation of temerity and evokes a sense of self-

determination and of overcoming inner turmoil. Accompanied with on-the-road footage shot during some of the band's ecstatic UK shows earlier in the run, the video turns the camera around on the crowds that have feverishly supported Simplicity at the overwhelming gigs and on record. www.facebook.com/JAWSJAWSJAWSJAWS

The LaFontaines return with new album "Common Problem" to be released on Wolf At Your Door Records, 27 October. With the help of producer Joe Cross (The Courteeners), the album’s sound is as sharp as the lyrical content, packed with explosive riffs and electronic hooks that race alongside Okan's gritty, pointed Scottish drawl. Common Problem combines an eclectic mix of influences, but at their core The LaFontaines are a real rock band, and a genuine force to be reckoned with. www.facebook.com/thelafontainesmusic 19 NOVEMBER The Fallen Angels Club presents ..... It crosses the ages, jumps into the unknown, traverses oceans and musical styles – from folk, through Americana, to classic pop, and back again. The Co Kildare singer / songwriter, who now resides in Scotland with her musical partner and husband John McCusker, is joined by a host of musicians and co-writers on the album, including Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow), Duke Special, Adam Holmes and Boo Hewerdine. “The title, Here We Go, 1, 2, 3, takes that idea of jumping, whether it’s into new musical territories, new bands, a new studio, new label, new family – new everything, really,” says Talbot, the recipient of 2008’s Indie Acoustic award and multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominations www.fallenangelsclub.com

Despite only just graduating this summer, Brooke’s irresistible pop has already stacked up over 2.6 million streams on Spotify plus picked up support from Radio 1, 6 Music and Radio X. Brooke is currently readying her ethereal new EP ’This Rapture’ (out this week) which she’ll be performing tracks from at this gig. Aged just twenty one, Brooke Bentham's music nonetheless carries the weight of someone who's lived a hundred lives already. She was born and raised – in large, part, fending for herself with three older brothers - in Southshields (just outside Newcastle), before relocating to New Cross to study at Goldsmith's. Here she at last felt part of a wider arts community, forming her live band and finding a mutual sense of camaraderie among a new generation of South London creatives. Brooke graduated only this summer, with debut EP ‘The Room Swayed’ – an at-times brutally honest dissection of those static, unfulfilling relationships – forming the backdrop to her final year. www.facebook.com/brookebentham

Fyne Fiddles Volume 1 the Book/CD is a suite of lessons for a range of abilities, from improving beginner to advanced learners. A treasure chest of information and advice on the technical and creative aspects of both playing and understanding traditional music. The book brings a thoughtful, detailed and supportive approach to learning, and is accompanied by a vast selection of examples, exercises, harmonies and backing tracks on three accompanying CDs. Each of the nine lessons focuses on a specific tune, painting a broad picture of the music and bringing out the important details and techniques within the notes. The choice of tunes (some new, some old) represents the continuing evolution of traditional music, and this is complemented by guitarist Donald Knox's varied and rhythmical arrangements. As well as providing step-by-step Fyne Fiddles :: Amy Geddes and Donald Knox exercises to help with bowing, intonation and all kinds of technique and theory, the CDs bring you a fabulous backing band in your own living room! The book is laid out in an easy to follow, accessible style, with fun illustrations by Sarah Roberts. Publication date is 15 Mar 2018. It will also be available as online video lessons from mid 2018. I believe Amy to be in contention for being the most talented teacher of traditional fiddle in Scotland today… Linda Morpurgo (Lochgoilhead Fiddle Workshop) Fyne Fiddles is the brainchild of talented performer and teacher (nominated Tutor of the Year at the MG Alba Trad Awards 2015), Amy Geddes, who plays fiddle, viola and sings. A regular live performer - solo, and as one half of transatlantic folk duo Redwood Mountain (with singer/ songwriter Dean Owens (as well as being a regular in his Whisky Hearts band)), Amy also writes & records music and trains teachers across Scotland (with ABC Creative Music) how to deliver creative music classes in schools. Her musical partner in the venture – which was founded as an annual workshop event in 2014 - is guitarist Donald Knox, an experienced music teacher and performer, with bands including The Matt Seattle Band and Carlenjig. …the happiest workshop I have ever attended… inspired even the most timid to participate fully… inspirational … workshop student Fyne Fiddles Volume 1 will be previewed in November, with a series of workshops, sessions, recital and previews, including at the Scots Fiddle Festival (Edinburgh), Wigtown, Selkirk and a weekend residency in December, in the stunning setting of Ardkinglas House, with Loch Fyne as the backdrop.
