Tickets to the tenth staging of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival are now on sale. The festival takes place on 2 & 3 August 2013 Full weekend, child (12 & under), campervan/caravan and electrical hook-up e-tickets can be purchased by going to this ticket link - http://bit.ly/SbDm0F Prices have been pegged for early birds at 2012 levels. Booking fees have been reduced on e-tickets and a new ticket deposit scheme has been introduced for customers wishing to buy full weekend tickets in instalments. Bella has sold out each of the last four years, often months before the event so fans are urged to buy early to avoid disappointment. E-tickets are more customer-friendly and less easy to scam, but printed tickets will also be on sale via the usual retail outlets nearer to Christmas The 2013 theme is ‘Carnival’, in keeping with the birthday party atmosphere the milestone event is bound to create. “We really hope as many as possible of those people who have supported us in the past will come and celebrate this significant birthday at Bella, but we will also hope to welcome the usual complement of newcomers to the event” said festival promoter Joe Gibbs.

If you thought festival season was over, then think again. On Friday 5 October and Saturday 6 October Reloaded, Stirling’s platform for emerging bands, hosts its very own live music festival - and you can leave your wellies at home! The ambitious event is back for its fifth year at the Tolbooth, Stirling’s venue for music and the arts. A selection of Scotland’s best live acts will perform over two days across three stages – The Main Stage, The Attic Stage and The Acoustic Stage – including Friday’s headliners indie folksters Broken Records along with dark and moody rock of Song of Return. Saturday sees Errors return to the Tolbooth with their post-electro and support from indie rock new boys Fatherson. There’s also radio DJ, Jim Gellatly, who’ll be on hand both evenings and ensure that each band gets a fitting intro.

We're Skint, They're Skinter Glasgow : 6 October

The team here at Glasgow Oxjam have been busy little bees in preparation for We're Skint, They're Skinter, and it is very nearly upon us. The one day festival is part of Oxfam's month-long music festival. We're Skint, They're Skinter will take place on Saturday 6 October in Glasgow's SWG3 (100 Eastvale Place G3 8QG), featuring music and stand-up comedy from local artists, market stalls, educational workshops and a variety of other activities.

Basically, We’re Skint, They’re Skinter is the entire festival experience brought to the local level and condensed into a single day; showcasing emerging Glasgow talent, while providing an interesting and engaging event for audiences. It’s also just a fiver! With this event, we’ve tried to make the most accessible festival as possible, placing it right in the heart of a local audience. This can be seen across the planning and management to promotional activity. Through various online surveys, the team were able to tailor an experience which filled a gap and met audience demands. A number of busking campaigns have been staged across the city to bring some of our performers directly to the audience. There has been a pop up box office in Flat 0/1, offering tickets and information about the event. We’ve also held our famous pub quiz We’re Smart They’re Smarter. The day itself will be spilt into two parts; a free activity focused music festival and a ticketed comedy/club night. The daytime component, running from 12pm to 5pm, will feature a number of stalls offering everything from professional facepainting to haircuts, as well a variety of educational workshops. This will run alongside performances from some top local musicians. In the evening slot, from 7pm to 2am, the bill will include sets by local comedians, bands and DJ’s, headlined by Michael Cassidy, Kitty the Lion, Viv Gee and Teklo. To top it all off, it’s raising money for a good cause. So, through an event which engages the community and offers a platform to local performers, Oxfam receives help to continue its amazing work across the world. Good news for all involved.

Fiddle 2012 Edinburgh : 16-18 November The seventeenth consecutive annual Fiddle festival, for the second time at the Queens Hall, once again combines concerts by the very best performers from the world of traditional fiddleplaying along with a whole week-end of all things fiddle, recitals, workshops, talks, cabarets, ceilidhs, stalls, food & drink, open stage, youth events and much more. With two unmissable concerts featuring Kevin Burke and Liz Carroll. The UK's biggest and best Fiddle Festival and one of Europe’s leading events in its field (The Scotsman), Fiddle 2011 had five star reviews in both The Scotsman and The Herald. Last year, the Festival not only survived its relocation onto several sites, the audiences actually increased. This year, the festival has fine-tuned (we’re fiddlers, that’s what we do) the way that they will use the two main venues (Queens Hall and Kings Hall), to ensure that non-stop music-making opportunities continue throughout the day. SELKIRK SESSIONS THIS WEEKEND Selkirk - 5-7 October 2012 is the seventh year of the Selkirk Sessions Traditional Music Festival and flows on from the two previous Both Sides of the Tweed Festivals, which ceased in 2005. Selkirk Sessions welcomes all musicians who enjoy playing folk (traditional or modern), contemporary and bluegrass music; and anyone who just likes listening to good stuff.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE FRIDAY 5TH Sessions t.b.c. all from about 8:00 pm ish! Anyone wanting to start something before this time feel free! SATURDAY 6TH Sessions all day and night in:- Town Arms, The Masonic Lodge, Selkirk Bowling Club and The Fleece all t.b.c. Saturday Workshops: Traditional percussion instruments – Spoons, Tea chest base, washboard. All held in The Towns Arms (upstairs) Times to be confirmed.

As a result of last year’s experiment not to have a Saturday night concert it has been decided to do away with this item of the programme. There will not be a Saturday concert but they are having anchor people in each pub to make sure sessions go with a bang.
