Doune the Rabbit Hole is a small-scale, family-friendly music and arts festival held over the August bank holiday weekend on the beautiful Cardross Estate. With its idyllic location and carefully curated line-up, Doune the Rabbit Hole offers an array of high-quality artists from around the world. Joining the bill this year are Jeffrey Lewis, Josephine Foster, Peatbog Faeries, Bass Clef, Acid Mother’s Temple, Balkanarama and the elusive Secret Chiefs 3 (a project by former members of Faith No More and Mr Bungle), Paws and many more.
Glasgow and Stirling. The buses are timed to meet trains into Stirling railway station to help people coming into the area by train reach the festival site. Free workshops and craft taster sessions will be taking place over the weekend with many of the performers sharing their musical skills with festivalgoers. Tickets are still available for weekend camping or for each individual day – buying in advance makes a small saving on the gate price. This year the festival has teamed up with organisers from Kelburn Garden Parties to offer a bus service picking up from Edinburgh,

The team behind Loopallu are overwhelmed and flattered to announce the festival has SOLD OUT before even the first acts have been announced! Testament to the wonderful legion of fans the festival has lovingly built over the ten years. Loopallu takes place in the west coast village of Ullapool on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th September 2014 and doubles the population of the village for the weekend. As well as the usual eclectic line up of acts appearing at the festival big top and the fringe events after hours in the villages pubs, the festival will again provide a selection of fine food and drink from around the Highlands as well as the usual warm Ullapool welcome. To kick those celebrations off organisers are delighted to announce the first batch of acts joining them, and with a mix of new names, and previous festival favourites, there’s something for everyone whose been lucky enough to get a ticket. Leading the announcements are Britpop legends SHED SEVEN. Having had sixteen consecutive Top Forty UK hits (including, Chasing Rainbows, Going for Gold & Disco Down), with ten appearances on Top of the Pops and a fan base as big & loyal as Shed Sevens’ is a testament to their ‘live’ performances and superb songs. Two decades on, and the band are playing packed shows across the country, indeed, selling more tickets now than they’ve ever done. For the first time the Summer Isles Festival has added an extra Friday event sure to delight festival-goers. Forty lucky people will have the opportunity to experience 23-year-old Edinburgh-born singer/songwriter Adam Holmes in a rare solo appearance. He is one of the brightest rising stars on the Scottish folk scene, with influences from either side of the Atlantic, mixing traditional and contemporary folk with his own brand of Americana.
The already varied line up for 2014 now also includes the Achiltibuie Highlanders who will kick start the proceedings on Saturday with a performance outside the village hall at 12.30pm. Also on the bill are Hunter & the Bear, Halcyon, Rachel Newton, Rura and the Mairearad Green Ceilidh Band.

Building on the model of last year’s festival, food demonstrations will be given by Chinese cookery specialist Yungyung Kan, and seafood experts Anne Campbell and Duncan Ross. Summer Isles Festival Ale will be made by An Tealleach Ale Company in Little Loch Broom by Garve.
Festival Director and musician Mairearad Green said “It is very exciting that this year’s festival has expanded to offer so many different activities. The additional concert from Adam Holmes is sure to be very popular and will let us test the potential of a second day for the event. With less than two weeks to go, I can’t wait for what is sure to be a great festival.”
Music Workshops include bodhran with David Foley (Rura) at 1pm, a singing workshop with Rachel Newton at 2pm and body percussion with Gareth Thompson (Hunter and the Bear) at 3pm.
In addition to the traditional raffle held at the event, the festival will this year organise a silent auction which will offer prizes including a tune composed especially by Festival Director Mairearad Green.

Festival goers will be invited to ‘Paint a Selfie’ in their choice of media with specialist art workshops led by local artist Gerry Irvine from Achiltibuie Artists Gallery and Ishbel Pendrid. Ceramicist Fergus Stewart will also lead a pot making workshop for budding potters. Neville Gabie’s new short film AFLOAT will be screened at the festival this year. The screenings will be followed by informal conversation with Neville Gabie and writer, art critic Moira Jeffrey. This programme is being supported by Creative Scotland to present the work in places that have a special relationship with rowing, community and the sea. Neville worked in collaboration with the Coigach community and IOTA [Inverness Old Town Art] over a period of two years and followed the community’s endeavours to build, launch and race a new skiff. They filmed the team win the inaugural Skiff World Championships and witnessed a

Ruth Gillies and Hannah Finlayson are singer songwriters from Inverness and Balloch respectively, Darren Hamilton and Louis Slorach are DJ / producers, also from Inverness and Jacob & Rory Green are two brothers from Strontian in Lochaber.

Hannah Finlayson is a 17 year old singer songwriter from Balloch, who draws inspiration from a range of musical influences. To date, Hannah has performed at the Glachbeg Folk House, the Greenhouse in Dingwall and Carnivale at The Bothy; a weekly night on the third floor of Hootananny running throughout the summer. After Belladrum, Hannah is playing at the North Hop Festival in Eden Court from 29-30 August.

Following on from this, the Karma Lounge in Inverness offered Darren an opening resident spot at the club throughout the summer. Speaking about the opportunity to play at Belladrum, Darren enthused, “I’m really excited about it, this is the first time I’ll have played at a festival and to be honest, I couldn’t be happier that it’s Belladrum. It has got such a great reputation here so it’s a massive opportunity for me to showcase what I’ve learnt with Music Plus. Louis Slorach is a 17 year old DJ / producer from Inverness who also plays guitar and keyboards. He’s already secured several support slots through The Ironworks venue, with his favourite being Marc Kinchen (MK – legendary Detroit House producer), who gave him advice on production and the music business in general. His summer job is also quite exciting; he is producing soundtrack music for an online gaming studio called Hunted Cow, which is based in Elgin, Moray.

Chemikal Underground will bring its inaugural The East End Social programme to a close with The East End Social’s ‘Last Big Weekend’: a spectacular big top concert held over two days within the leafy environs of Glasgow's Richmond Park. Taking place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August, this ambitious double header - an official Culture 2014 event and part of Homecoming Scotland 2014 - looks set to be the event of the summer as well as a fitting climax for The East End Social and Culture 2014. Glasgow’s post-rock trailblazers Mogwai will headline Saturday’s line up while Sunday’s proceedings (curated by legendary club night Optimo and fellow party-specialists Numbers) will be helmed by Hudson Mohawke, one of the most exciting DJs and record producers to emerge from Scotland in the last ten years. Kicking off at 1pm and continuing until 11pm, The East End Social’s Last Big Weekend will take place in a marquee erected within the cosy environs of Glasgow’s Richmond Park. Nestled just south of the River Clyde adjacent to Shawfield Stadium, Richmond Park is 5 minutes walk from Dalmarnock Station and 10 minutes walk from Bridgeton Station.

Haddington’s Trad on the Tyne festival has published its final programme, with the headline acts – Karine Polwart, Blazin’ Fiddles, the Friel Sisters (in the Music to Dine For evening), and Alex Hodgson – being joined on the bill by the Victorian Trout Conspiracy and dynamic duo Rachel Gray and Amy Low. In its last few years, the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival has enjoyed considerable growth, and this year has topped it all with a 40% increase on box office ticket sales from 2013. An artistically strong programme of concerts (over 140 in 10 days) and a range of new partnerships, including fellow Edinburgh festivals and international arts organisations, all contributed to the boost in figures. This was supported by a new website, a strong city centre presence at the Tron Kirk, which acts as an allday hub for the duration of the Festival, and Carnival workshops at community centres across Edinburgh. Fiona Alexander, Producer of Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival said:
