Go-Rock is a small multivenue music festival aiming to showcase some of the great unsigned/independent acts in Scotland.

Music on the Brain is a non-profit organisation that combines a love of discovering new music with a passion for raising funds to help those affected by cancer. Housing a small record label, promotions company and multi-venue music festival, our project strives to promote new and unsigned artists by providing a platform for their music

Just a short train ride from Glasgow, the pretty coastal town of Gourock, with its intimate venues and stunning views, is the perfect location for this event on Saturday 29 August, and with genres ranging from acoustic and folk through to opera, rock and metal you're guaranteed to find something you'll enjoy!

with all profits from the activities going towards helping cancer patients. Music on the Brain aim to use music to help people get through the tough times that come with a cancer diagnosis. From organising free music tuition & discussion classes that are suitable for all ages and abilities, to putting on live music events that our participants can attend or perform at, our aim is to provide an environment where people can be defined by their music rather than their illness whilst having the support of others who have had similar experiences. Music on the Brain was set up in honour of Helen Denovan who passed away after a battle with brain cancer and it strongly supports any initiatives that raise awareness of brain tumours and the unique set of challenges that brain tumour patients are faced with.

Taking place over several pubs Go-Rock is one day charity event ran by 'Music on the Brain' that aims to raise funds to help those affected by cancer - 100% of the profits go towards helping those affected by cancer. Just when you think festival season is over, there’s still another cracker to be enjoyed before the nights draw in. The Midlothian town of Dalkeith is gearing up for Midstock Festival on Saturday 12 September, with the outdoor spectacular taking place in the superb setting of Dalkeith Country Park.

Headlining the festival are melodic indierockers THE FRATELLIS and joining them on the bill are FISH, THE HOOSIERS, THE OOH LA LAS, THE RAHS, FATHERSON, THE VOLTS, REWIND and THE FLAVOURS .... plus DJ MC MALLORCA LEE with an ultrasonic anthems set. Aberdeen Performing Arts has announced the launch of True North – Aberdeen’s festival of music and song – celebrating the North-east's singer songwriter tradition and providing a platform for the very best music and song, from ballads to contemporary classics. Taking place from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September at The Lemon Tree, Music Hall and in various locations across Aberdeen’s city centre, the festival includes an evening celebrating the music of Neil Young in his 70th year featuring a lineup of top artists, a Songwriters’ Circle event, Late Night Festival Club sessions and a headline concert at the Music Hall featuring a - yet to be announced - award winning artist. The full line-up will be announced in the coming weeks, with the first events revealed including the opening concert from young Scottish act Fatherson; closing gig by Bill Wells & Aidan

Moffat with Scottish Album of the Year Award finalist Kathryn Joseph; RM Hubbert hosting two late night sessions with special guests; an exploration of North East song with Wounded Knee; a stunning afternoon concert at Queen’s Cross Church with The Unthanks and Rachel Sermanni; and the 70th Birthday Celebration for Neil Young featuring Eddi Reader, Justin Currie, Admiral Fallow, Emma Pollock, Withered Hand, Tommy Reilly and Blue Rose Code, which has been curated and hosted by Roddy Hart and Lonesome Fire.

Scotland’s leading stars are set to take Paisley by storm in a series of special events celebrating Scottish’s musical talent and songwriting. Bring it all Home – run by Renfrewshire Council – is back for a third year with a huge offering of Scottish talent coming to Paisley for the festival on 17-19 September 2015. Featuring a series of free events, the festival offers existing and budding musicians plus music fans a chance to learn the secrets of the trade. Topping the festival bill is a star-studded music conference (Thursday 17 September, Paisley Town Hall) where the people behind top Scottish bands Biffy Clyro and Prides plus some of Scotland’s top festivals – Belladrum’s Tartan Heart Festival, Celtic Connections, Hebridean Celtic Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Wickerman – reveal their recipe for success in the tough field. Also on hand will be digital publishing experts Absilone and Emu Bands plus grant bodies Creative Scotland and PRS for Music Foundation to help musicians, artists and performers get ahead in the field. Plus, composers John Logan, Royal Scottish National Orchestra arranger who will be working with Idlewild at this year’s Spree Festival, and Greg Lawson, whose reworking of Grit – The Martyn Bennett concert was hailed a triumph, will talk about writing and reworking material with big names. Scotland’s top experts will also be listening to demo submissions by young musicians at the Youth Music Day (Saturday 19 September, Paisley Arts Centre) in addition to a series of workshops on breaking into the music industry. The festival’s flagship concert, A Celebration of Scottish Songwriting (Friday 18 September, Paisley Town Hall) will showcase six unique and hugely talented Scottish artists paying tribute to the breadth and depth of Caledonian hitmaking.

From 11-13 September the festival pops up from nowhere to transform the town and its streets into a lively open venue, giving locals, and visitors from all over, a chance to mingle and enjoy the music and performance of the various artists. Everywhere is the venue and everybody’s welcome to the party. The Borders have long been closely associated with a number of characteristic features that are as unique as the Region itself and from now on we hope that this music festival will become an annual event, offering visitors a great opportunity to visit the Scottish Borders.

Summer Isles Festival Celebrates Stunning Local Area And Talent Achiltibuie : 28-29 August : www.summerislesfestival.com TICKETS! @ www.summerislesfestival.com The Summer Isles Festival will host the first ever local showcase at Coigach Community Hall on Friday 28 August. Achiltibuie has a wealth of talented musicians and this concert will provide a platform for up-andcoming locals alongside more established artists. Confirmed acts so far are Festival Director and accordionist, MAIREARAD GREEN, local young musician JOSEPH PEACH, with his band TANNARA and local Tradition bearer, ALI BEAG MACLEOD will be performing with KEVIN MACLEOD from ceilidh band, The Occasionals.

Angus Binnie and the Mairearad Green Ceilidh Band. This year’s festival has a Highland seashore theme following the award of funding from Highland Biodiversity. Festival-goers are invited to design and make a ship, liner or fishing boat using driftwood, scraps, sticks and odds and ends at a Driftwood Boat Building Workshop with local artist Julia Campbell. Other activities include Garbanimal building with Chapel Croft Creatures and an educational fire extravaganza with Fly Agaric. Music workshops include fiddle with Mike Vass, a Gaelic song workshop with Kathleen MacInnes and guitar with Mark Bruce (The Elephant Sessions).

Powerful, emotive and critically acclaimed traditional Irish band, THE ALAN KELLY GANG, will be reuniting with Scotland’s mesmerising songstress, EDDI READER (of Fairground Attraction fame) and Trashcan Sinatra’s guitarist and songwriter, JOHN DOUGLAS, to perform at a number of venues during Blas 2015. Joining them at various stages of the festival programme will be the supremely talented Gaelic singer MARGARET STEWART as well as, on their final appearance, Canada’s J P CORMIER. The Alan Kelly Gang have established themselves as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary traditional acts. Alan Kelly has long been declared Ireland’s innovative piano accordion maestro described by New York’s ‘Irish Voice’ as ‘in league with the best piano accordionists in the world’. The Gang’s arrangements are acclaimed as world class, as are the musicians, and though firmly rooted in the Irish tradition, the Alan Kelly Gang seamlessly introduce Galician, Breton, Scottish and Americana influences. In September 2011, they released their first official band album entitled Small Towns and Famous Nights and this year has seen the release of their second album, The Last Bell, to wide critical acclaim. First up for the Alan Kelly Gang at Blas 2015 is Nairn on Thursday, September 10 with the festival in full swing, then on to Strathpeffer on the Friday evening, 11th. At both those venues

Highland Council’s desire to create a festival that would match the vitality of Cape Breton’s Celtic Colours, the Blas festival is now an international event showcasing Highland culture and its continuing success has been welcomed by the Scottish Government and Highland Council.
