The bold diversity of the T Break line-up gave music fans at T in the Park the chance to see outstanding sets from Glasgow hip hop duo Hector Bizerk to psychedelic western rockers The Merrylees, the atmosphere was as lively and passionate as ever as fans crowded in, in the hope of catching a glimpse of Scotland’s next big thing. Organisers send a huge thank you to the amazing T in the Park audience who visited the T Break Stage over the festival weekend to support Scotland’s unsigned talent and thank all the artists who entered their demos to T Break this year, the judges were once again blown away by the sheer volume of talent they received. Come and join the lucky ones who have already discovered the delights of the Ullapool Guitar Festival that runs again this October for the 14th time. They have an amazing collection of musicians in concert in the stunning Ullapool surroundings, with events taking place in the MacPhail Centre on North Road, Ullapool. If you love guitar music in all its forms then this Festival is not to be missed. You can enjoy workshops, five concerts, the guitar exhibition and trade show and the best kept secret in Scotland - three nights of "The Ullapool Late Club" - starting at midnight and runing until 3am - and sometimes longer! All this for only £130 for a weekend ticket! The actual programme of events is still to be announced, but the first set in each of the evening concerts will be split so that the festival can offer some young and up and coming players an opportunity to play in front of such a knowledgeable and appreciative audience.

The guitar will be made from ancient Kauri wood from New Zealand (80,000years old), and the soundboard will be made from Sinker Redwood, which again is ancient, and recovered from the Big River in Mendocino California. The festival is determined to bring more people to Ullapool this year and organisers hope regular festival fans will encourage some of their friends to come along this year - it really will be worthwhile! Ticket prices remain the same as the last 3 years at £130 for a weekend ticket, individual concert tickets will not go on sale until much closer to the Festival dates.

Scotland’s acclaimed music festival Belladrum will next weekend celebrate its tenth year and BBC ALBA viewers are invited to join the party as the channel provides exclusive live festival coverage for the third consecutive year. BBC ALBA will screen two special live programmes - Belladrum 2013: Cridhe Tartan from the sold-out festival on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 August. Among the acts performing for BBC ALBA viewers and festival-goers will be Twin Atlantic, James, Alabama 3, The Horrors, Noisettes, Nina Nesbitt, The Peatbog Faeries and Lucy Spraggan to name but a few. There are some wonderful additions to the line up of Doune The Rabbit Hole Festival, the small scale family friendly event which takes place over the weekend of 22-25 August at Cardross Estate, near Port of Menteith, Stirlingshire. Cult Canadian electronic musician Aaron Funk AKA Venetian Snares will now join the line up on Sunday 25 August. Adding to the already kaleidoscopically eclectic bill, Planet Mu Records’ Venetian Snares take drum ‘n’ bass and breakcore to a new level. On Sunday we also have funky Afrobeats from Samba Sene & Diwan, a seven-piece international Senegalese band currently based in Scotland. Eclectic folk-rock band Trembling Bells and hypercolour indie dance producer- performer Miaoux Miaoux play the Baino stage on Friday; On Saturday we welcome back the indescribably mad and brilliant Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 and it's also the return of John Knox Sex Club; On Sunday, rambunctious funk rock fusion outfit Bar Room Crawl play, also on the Baino stage. The festival has also added a dance-themed performance space for live acts and DJs, curated by Glasgow’s Low End Collective. Acts include techno DJ Rebecca Vasmant, Glasgow hip hop duo Hector Bizerk, reggae soundsystem Argonaut Sounds and a plethora of Scottish talent over a range of styles to keep visitors dancing all weekend. Buy Early Bird tickets before 31 July @ www.blas-festival.com For the first time since the Blas festival was launched nine years ago, the premier event celebrating all that is good about the Gaelic language and culture of the Highlands will introduce performances to venues in Argyll and the Western Isles. The programme itinerary this year includes Islay’s Ramsay Hall, Sgoil Lionacleit in Benbecula, Oban’s iconic Corran Halls and Bunessan Hall in Mull. The second day of the festival, Saturday 7th, sees Darren Maclean, Finlay MacDonald and Chris Stout, accompanied by young local musicians from Fèis Òigridh Ìle ‘s Dhiùra, appearing at Port Ellen’s Ramsay Hall. The extension of the festival to venues in Argyll and Bute has been welcomed by the local authority. Councillor George Freeman of Argyll and Bute Council said: “As the Lead Councillor for culture, I am delighted to see the Blas Festival come to Argyll and Bute for the first time and would extend a warm welcome to all visiting musicians and audiences who will help to celebrate the Gaelic language, tradition and culture.” Blas Festival Director, Donna Macrae, said: "Blas is delighted to be extending its reach to new communities and it is hugely encouraging that several local authorities want the festival to have a presence in their areas. This is something we hope to develop in future but Blas is happy to be dipping its toe in the Argyll and Western Isles waters this year and we hope that people in those areas enjoy the events we have planned." One of the festivals highlights will undoubtedly be the appearance of the highly popular Mànran, together with Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, as well as youngsters from Maggie MacDonald Fèis Latharna, on Thursday 12th at the Corran Halls in Oban. And on the final night of Blas 2013, Bunessan Hall on Mull will be bouncing to Donald Black’s Band and the superb musical skills of Paul MacCallum and Maggie MacDonald. Celebrating the life and Gaelic song collection of the world-famous Margaret Fay Shaw, one of the most notable and important collectors of authentic Scottish Gaelic song in the 20th century, “Eun Beag Chanaidh” – “A Little Bird Blown Off Course” - is a new piece of music–theatre by Fiona J Mackenzie, presented by the National Theatre of Scotland and Blas Festival in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland. Blas 2013 a’ sgaoileadh mun IarBlas 2013 a’ sgaoileadh mun Iar in 1935. For the rest of their lives, the couple dedicated themselves to the collecting and preserving of Gaelic songs and folklore for future generations. To mark the connection with South Uist, Blas and the National Theatre for Scotland are delighted to offer a preview of “A Little Bird Blown Off Course” at St Peter’s Hall in Daliburgh on Thursday, September 4. Also in Uist, one of the festival’s great favourites, “Cuairt nam Bàrd”, where Fèisean nan Gàidheal and Comhdhàil Nàisiunta na Gaeilge bring together poets and musicians to celebrate the Fiona J Mackenzie arts in Gàidhlig and Gaeilge, will be visiting Lionacleit in Benbecula on Tuesday 10 September. This exchange has been running for over 40 years between Scotland and Ireland and this year the artistes will visit Inverness, Benbecula, Raasay, Sleat and Dingwall. The participants will be Proinsias Mac a’ Bhàird (poet), Ceití Ní Bheildiúin (poet), Pádraic Keane (piper) and Eithne Ní Chatháin (singer and fiddler) and they will be supported by local guests at each venue. Lagavulin Single Malt Scotch Whisky will again be the headline sponsor of the Islay Jazz Festival in 2013. The Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival, which this year will take place from 13-15 September, attracts hundreds of jazz lovers, from Scotland and further afield, to the world-famous whisky island on Scotland’s west coast. This is now the fifteenth year that the Festival has been held on Islay, and the fourth year that the Festival has been sponsored by Lagavulin, whose continued backing has enabled the Festival to develop into the success story that it is today. ECM superband Trio Libero blend folk melodies, infectious grooves, and ambient Nordic cool. Making waves on the UK jazz scene, pianist Kit Downes debuts his Trio at Islay. The master of American Stride piano, Stephanie Trick delivers ragtime and boogie-woogie classics. The Festival has also formed a super Islay trio featuring musicians who are regular visitors to the Festival: bassist Mario Caribe, trumpeter Colin Steele, and guitarist Graeme Stephen. Local vocal star Sheena Swanson presents a brand new band comprising five Islay musicians. Some of Scotland’s top music and comedy acts are on their way to Paisley to perform at national arts festival The Spree later this year. The Spree (10 – 20 October) is back in the town for a second year after its successful debut in 2012, and will wrap around the Royal National Mòd (11 – 19 October), Scotland’s premier celebration of Gaelic culture, on its first visit to Paisley.

The following day (Saturday 12 October) will see the start of the competitions, as well as sports tournaments involving football and shinty, before one of the highlights of Mòd week - the Fiddler's Rally, led by the Bearsden Fiddlers, in the Abbey. That night there will be a cèilidh dance in the Town Hall, with a top act from the traditional music set to be announced.
