The Perthshire village of Killin came alive with music for KMF 2018, attracting a record number of over 1,500 people. This year’s line-up boasted phenomenal artists including Blazin' Fiddles and Niteworks on the Friday, Peatbog Faeries, MecLir and Hò-Rò on the Saturday and a seated concert with Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain on Sunday. Not only was there music to enjoy by all ages, but also an array of fringe events on offer. On Saturday there was a Highland Hustle Workout, Ukelele workshop and a Craft Fair with craft activities all day. The Sunday featured the McLaren High School Pipe Band parading down the Main Street, a community coffee morning with the local Community Choir and Killin Primary School Choir. Festival-goers could also enjoy our Open Stage competition featuring several emerging artists from the local area and beyond. Katie Allan and

Abigail Pryde were crowned as the winners, securing a spot on the 2019 line-up. Portnellan kindly sponsored the Session Tent this year, which was free entry for all throughout the weekend to enjoy The Camans, The Mocking Dogs and the Coaltown Daisies. Award winning band Elephant Sessions have

Fringe By The Sea, North Berwick’s “creative and quirky” festival, has now published the full programme for the 11th year presenting 168 events over ten days (3-12 August). Solas Festival, Scotland’s midsummer festival of music, arts and ideas, is delighted to welcome Palestinian musicians 47SOUL to Solas Festival.

47SOUL are renowned as a voice on social issues – the band’s very name is an allusion to the occupation of Palestine. He headlines the award-winning Hebridean Celtic Festival next month as part of a solo tour and also plays a few gigs later in the year with the acoustic folk super group in which he features with Kris Drever and John McCusker. On top of that, he is recording a new album with Indie giants Idlewild and will be back on stage as the group’s frontman when they tour in support of the new release next year. It will be the third visit to HebCelt for Roddy, who has lived in Mull since 2008: “I love the Outer Hebrides. Having a festival there is great. Saor Patrol Beat the Drum for Scotland’s Heritage @ The Spirit of Duncarron Celtic rock band Saor Patrol have a new album ‘Battle of Kings’ being released internationally on the 22 June through the UK label ARC Music. Saor Patrol are all members of the Clanranald Trust and charity to protect and promote Scottish heritage. This has been accomplished by the reconstruction of a medieval fortress in the Carron Valley known as Duncarron. Soar Patrol’s constant touring calendar has helped to finance Duncarron which has been built from the bottom up, and according the Duncarron Medieval Village Facebook page, “from scratch and quite literally by hand, and against all odds.” The Spirit of Duncarron is a celebration of music, history and Scotland that took place on the 16 and 17 June. Saor Patrol performed live at the Spirit of Duncarron on both days. Guest performers on the weekend included the talented singer/songwriter John Taylor, whose music has featured across TV and movies, and Zoee, a talented story-telling songwriter. Throughout the weekend, everyday medieval village life was represented including blacksmith demonstrations making everything from a humble hanging hook to an impressive sword; costumed warriors explaining different types of weapons and

Their latest venture is the new Netflix movie ‘Outlaw King’ (directed by David Mackenzie) about the life and times of King Robert the Bruce. Saor Patrol have also featured in ‘Britain by Bike’ with Larry and George Lamb (Channel 5) and Victoria (ITV). Duncarron Village has been host to ‘Norsemen’ (Norway’s NRK1); ‘Gudrun the Viking Princess’ (Maramedia) and a TV ad for Visit Scotland. The fort has been used for ‘After Bannockburn’ with Clive Russell and also features in ‘Outlaw King’ featuring Angus Macfayden in the lead role. ‘Battle of Kings’ is being released internationally through ARC Music on the 22 June.
