Slaid Cleaves first act announced for Glasgow Americana line-up Glasgow :: 4-8 October :: www.glasgowamericana.com Buy tickets @ www.ticketweb.co.uk

Austin-based Slaid Cleaves has the honour – for the second time – of being the first act to be named for the Glasgow Americana Festival. Rated by many as one of Texas’ finest songwriters, with comparisons to Woody Guthrie and other craftsmen, Slaid will play this year’s Glasgow Americana on October 6 in St Andrews in the Square. Over a 20-year career, Slaid has proved time and again that he is a deft songwriter with flowing lyrical qualities with a great ear for a memorable melody – and he is hugely personable on stage. With an impressive catalogue of CDs to his name – not least his 2013 classic, Still Fighting The War – he has built up a considerable following. Many fans enjoyed his previous visits to Scotland for Glasgow Americana four years ago and a 2009 Celtic Connections’ Austin Song Writers’ Show. Slaid has a great name in the Americana music scene here and in the States so being able to have him in the city again as part of Glasgow Americana 2017 is a real pleasure.” GIGnotes ..... An Evening With Slaid Cleaves, Friday 6 October at St Andrew’s In The Square, Glasgow. Tickets £16 on 0141 204 5151 or link above. Doors 7.30pm, on stage 8pm no support.
