DANIEL ROMANO with support KACY & CLAYTON: At The Tunnels, Aberdeen. Doors 7.00pm. Daniel Romano’s fifth LP “Mosey” will be released in late spring through New West Records. The upcoming album is named after how he describes his own music. “Mosey music is a study in contrasts. There’s glitz and grit, reveling and wallowing, wretchedness and showmanship. Mosey music’s pioneers wore their battered hearts on sequined sleeves. From Bakersfield to Galveston, the legends traded their tragicomic highs and lows for gold records and white Cadillacs. But that was then; the days of Buckaroos, Nudie Suits and various Hanks are over, save for the museum displays. To quote a George Jones title track, “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?” On this tour Daniel Romano has invited Kacy & Clayton to open up for him and his band. A duo from the wood mountain uplands of Southern Saskatchewan that gently melts British and North American folk tradition together and create something timeless and captivating. www.AlmostBluePromotions.com THE SPRINGSTEEN SESSIONS: At The Lemon Tree, West North Street, Aberdeen, at 8pm.

enigmatic simian soul. www.theblowmonkeys.com 13 JULY DAVE ARCARI: At The Cluny, Newcastle Upon Tyne. SLIDE guitarist & songwriter Dave Arcari’s alt.blues sounds owe as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta blues and have been showcased via eight internationally-acclaimed solo CD releases. Two US tours in 2015 – including official showcases at SxSW in Austin, Texas – built on the foundations laid over successful US tours in 2013 and 2014. A new set of recordings is scheduled for release over an EP and an album in 2016. Seasick Steve said: “Dave plays like he got his skin turned inside out and pretty soon my skin was inside out too listening and it was all good. That boy bleeds for you – he a real down deep player and a soul man…” www.davearcari.com 15 JULY HILLFOLK NOIR with 10 STRING SYMPHONY: At Coldingham Village Hall, Berwickshire. One of the hardest-working bands on the US roots music circuit, Hillfolk Noir have built themselves a huge Stateside following playing what has been described as music “filtered through a country-tinged, swampyswingin’, hillbilly- delta-blues-ragtime word machine”. Working out of Boise, Idaho, they have won a lot of fans in the UK after six successful tours on this side of the Atlantic. www.facebook.com/hillfolknoir www.brookfield-knights.com 22 JULY 10 STRING SYMPHONY: At Eastgate Theatre, Peebles. When 10 String Symphony released their superb Weight of The World album earlier this year, it created instantaneous reverberations on both sides of the Atlantic, and was so well received in America that it ended up at the No 3 position on the hugely-influential Billboard Bluegrass Chart. This will be the duo’s UK debut and it is eagerly anticipated by many. The album picked up a top-rating 5-star review from R2 magazine. www.facebook.com/10StringSymphony www.brookfield-knights.com 15-24 JULY Music at Paxton: At Paxton House, Berwickshire. Music at Paxton, a summer festival of superb international chamber music, takes place in Paxton House on the banks of the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders. The concerts offer an intimate, friendly and relaxed experience and take place in Paxton House’s splendid Picture Gallery. With its large, domed roof-light that lets in the summer sun, and walls hung high with paintings from the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection, it is an idyllic setting for chamber music. The Hot Seats have blown the crowds away at big events such as Celtic Connections, Shetland Folk Festival, HebCeltFest, Gate To Southwell and Edinburgh Fringe, where they won a coveted Herald Angel after a sell-out run at The Famous Spiegletent and were described as “sensational” by the publication’s arts editor.
