MALCOLM BUSHBY: Born in Tasmania, Australia with a strong Scottish heritage Malcolm grew up listening to the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland through his parents playing and recordings. Since arriving in the UK Malcolm has worked and studied with Aidan O’Rourke, Catriona MacDonald, Shona Mooney, Sophy Ball and has studied with Stewart Hardy ( ex John Wright Band). DARIUS BRUBECK QUARTET + TOM DAVIS QUARTET: Jazz was as cool as a dry Martini when Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond came to town in the 1950s. Darius Brubeck carries the Brubeck flame, playing hits like Blue Rondo A La Turk and Take Five with the great saxophonist Brandon Allen in the Paul Desmond role. Brubeck’s set also features South African jazz, plus his own original compositions. American guitarist Tom Davis' quartet features Paul Desmond tunes and focuses on the ones he made famous with Jim Hall, with Martin Kershaw taking the alto hot seat.
