BREABACH Following the success of the album BANN, Breabach are hitting the road for a short run of four dates. The band has a new edge, energy and focus, and with increasing popularity and fast growing international recognition it’s little wonder Breabach received nominations for ‘Best Group’ at both the 2011 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Scots Trad Music Awards simultaneously. The eleven tracks that made up BANN have been cultivated with the same honesty and integrity that has always driven Breabach forward as a group of traditional players Megan Henderson and James Mackenzie bring an inspiring highland energy and cultural grounding as well as diverse musicianship on fiddle, vocals, highland pipes and wooden flute. James Lindsay is a long time band member though Bann is his debut on a Breabach recording. James has been invaluable as a writer and arranger for the band. Ewan Robertson and James together have developed as an inventive unit over the last two years of touring, and the lineup is completed by multiinstrumentalist Calum MacCrimmon who supplies bagpipes, whistles, bouzouki, vocals and Jews harp. The Cat Strand.
