They bombed and shot at the parliamentary members and President Allende lost his life and with it Chile’s democracy, 3197 were ‘disappeared’. Their families await them still. Join us outside the parliament to read out the names of the disappeared, MSPs and local Councillors will attend and we ask that everyone wears black on the day. There is no charge, and tickets are not required (although usual ticketed admission to the Castle applies). The Scottish Plainsong Choir is an ad hoc choir which meets approximately six times a year. Participants come from all over Scotland and the North of England and, under the direction of Alan Tavener, explore and rehearse the ancient traditions of plainsong eg Gregorian and Celtic chant, the works of St Hildegard of Bingen and the Laudes of St Francis. The Choir presents this music in services and concerts at interesting historic venues around Scotland, and occasionally beyond.
