Run by Scottish Music Centre and funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) and PRS Foundation, the initiative provides early-stage musicians the opportunity to learn about the live sector before embarking on a professionally managed tour.

Ahead of each tour, musicians attend expert masterclasses / workshops covering everything from production, performance, royalties and marketing. Hit The Road equips young artists with the knowledge, contacts and tools necessary to work within the modern live industry. The initiative has acted as a key stepping-stone in the development of some of Scotland’s most promising young artists, including; Lewis Capaldi, Be Charlotte, KLOE, Model Aeroplanes, Indigo Velvet, Aylee. Hit The Road offers young people aged between 14-19 years old the opportunity to learn more about the live music industry before embarking on a professionally managed tour across Scotland. The project also provides participatory training opportunities for non-musicians in a real-world live environment covering; photography, sound engineering, PR, artist liaison. Hit The Road is part of The Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI), which is administered by Creative Scotland. The YMI creates access to high quality music making opportunities.

Attica Rage recently celebrated their 15 year anniversary, having formed in Glasgow in March 2003 (although the band name had existed Lawrence, 22, is originally from Dunfermline, previously in a different incarnation). Since Fife and has been playing guitar since he was six 2008, the band has released four criticallyyears old. He teaches guitar and also writes and acclaimed albums, along with singles, bonus performs in the Lawrence O'Brien Band in tracks, videos and a feature-length live concert Glasgow, where he is now based. He counts Jimi & documentary film. Reviews, blogs and airplay Hendrix, Paul Gilbert, Dimebag Darrell and from the likes of Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Yngwie Malmsteen among his influences. Planet Rock, Total Rock, Hard Rock Hell Radio as Lawrence will make his live debut appearance well as live TV appearances have all helped the
band reach a wide-spread global audience. The core fans even have their own nickname – 'Clan Attica' – which includes fans with tattoos of the band's skull mascot. Attica Rage have clocked up hundreds of shows on headline tours across the UK & Europe as well as opening for acts such as Black Label Society, Saxon, Testament, Iced Earth, Skindred and Iron Maiden's Steve Harris British Lion amongst others. Seasoned festival veterans, highlights over the years have included Bloodstock Open Air, Download, Hard Rock Hell, Hammerfest and High Voltage, sharing bills with titans such as Judas Priest, Slash, Anthrax, Slayer, Killing Joke and Down. After many years as a well-known face on the band circuit, Bob Leslie’s re-invention of himself as an acoustic performer resulted in two well-received Americana CDs - In a Different World (2010) and Fat Cat (2011) - and a re-launch onto the folk circuit. My new album The Seas Between Us is out now! It has twelve old Scots and Gaelic songs, many of which I’ve been singing since I was a little girl. It was recorded and produced by Matheu Watson, who also played several instruments (guitars, fiddle, mandolin, prepared instruments, synth, organs, etc.) and features Fraser Fifield (prepared whistle, lowland pipes, kaval), Jim Rattigan (French horn), Ben Cashell (cello) and Findlay Napier (voice). It was mixed by Leo Abrahams and mastered by Iain Hutchison.
This Girl, This Woman is the debut album by 57-yearHailing from The Shetland Islands, The Revellers are a old singer Jude Adams, who discovered her talent seven-piece juggernaut, that combine fiddle, mandolin following a life-changing M.E. diagnosis. The album, and tenor banjo with heavy metal, punk and alternative which Jude describes as soulful pop with a 60s twist, rock rhythm section. The end result is something which contains 10 tracks all written and sung by Jude, and has been nicknamed by onlookers as ‘Heavy Folk Music’ produced and arranged by musician Janette Mason. or ‘Viking Metal’. Stories Untold is an intimate and inspiring collection of original songs, tackling topics including child soldiers, crime and punishment, loss, and love in its many forms. Early responses have been positive, with five stars from Spiral Earth, and album of the week from Iain Anderson and Celtic Music Radio.
‘Crossing Borders’ was a Celtic Connections commission in 2015 written for a nine piece ensemble and represents Graham's musical journey to date, reflecting on places, people and musical styles that have influenced him and his music. The piece draws on vibrant Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton styles and is written in four sections, each highlighting one of these cultures. It brings together a fusion of traditional and classical styles in his own composition.
To Be Free is an interim project - in between albums number one and two - for Glasgow's Martha L. Healy. Including two originals and two of Martha's favourite country classics, the EP was recorded with her band over a snowy weekend in Glasgow in January 2016.

MAY Shetland Folk Festival Shetland 3-6 May The Festival as the UK's most northerly folk festival is regarded a prestigious event for performers, locals and visitors alike. Organised by a voluntary committee (and run by an even bigger pool of volunteers) the Festival prides itself in reaching out to even the most far flung areas of Shetland. Beauly 2-4 August Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival takes place in the beautiful Highland surroundings of Belladrum Estate, near Beauly in Inverness-shire. The independent festival has built a reputation for its eclectic line-ups, its offbeat non-musical entertainments and its all-ages approach.
