About the Composition Come Thou Fount is beloved American Hymn that has been a staple for many generations. This arrangement includes contemporary harmonies and piano accompaniment and an optional brass quintet. It could be performed by a small chamber choir with piano, or a mass choir with piano and brass. Because of the flexibility of the arrangement, it could be performed in a myriad of settings - church, school and community. There are three major keys to success in this arrangement. 1. The singers must accomplish a flowing legato line throughout 2. Careful attention must be given to shaping phrases through use of prepared breathing and dynamics. 3. Proper beat/syllabic stress is a must.
About the Composer J Reese Norris (b.1973) is director of choirs at Hernando Middle School and is co-founder, co-artistic director of CoroRio, both in Northwest Mississippi. Reese received degrees from Delta State University and Florida State University, and in 2005 was named Delta State University Music Alumnus of the year.
