Franz Liszts Preludium og fuge over navnet BACH er et mesterlig musikkstykke som jeg med denne utgaven har tatt meg den frihet å tilrettelegge så man kan spille preludiet alene uten fugen. Med denne forkortelsen er det mulig å benytte verket i en liturgisk sammenheng!
Preludiets kraftfulle akkorder på B-A-C-H frem til diminuendo på slutten av preludiet, er identiske med akkordene i fugens kadens. Bortsett fra å sløyfe fugen har er det ikke gjort noen endringer i notene. Det eneste er noen enkle praktiske tilpasninger, som i takt 80 der det i originalen står oktaver i venstrehånd. Oktavdoblingen er unødvendig når man har pedalkoppel. Tempoangivelsene er mine forslag.

Franz Liszt‘s Fantasy and Fugue on B-A-C-H is a musical masterpiece of which I have taken the liberty of preparing an edition which allows the Fantasy to be performed alone, without the Fugue. This shortened version enables the work to be played in a liturgical setting.
The powerful chords on B-A-C-H leading to the diminuendo at the end of the Fantasy are identical with the final chords of the Fugue. Apart from having removed the Fugue, the score has not been tampered with. The only editorial changes are a few adjustments of a practical nature, such as in bar 80, where the original includes octaves in the left hand. These are unnecessary when a pedal coupler is available. The tempo suggestions are mine.
