Preface Have you explored all the possibilities of using the F attachment on your trombone, or do you, like so many players, mostly use the F attachment to play middle c or low F? In this book I will show you that there are, in fact, a lot of other possibilities. With the F attachment you can: * Vary your choice of position more than on a trombone without the F attachment * Play the notes between low E and pedal B flat, and have more options when playing pedal tones * Develop your breathing, as the lower register requires more breath * Improve your playing in the upper register, as a good sound in the lower register requires more work with centering * Use the lower register to “warm down” your embouchure after a hard day’s practice. Many of the world’s leading trombonists recommend practicing in the lower register, and personally speaking, for me it has paid off. I have also used many songs and exercises in the bass trombone register with my students with good results. The pleasure of playing good music is something we all appreciate. In this book you will therefore find melodious folk tunes which gradually descend into the deepest register. I hope you will enjoy the “journey” downwards into the bass trombone register, and that you will appreciate learning some Norwegian folk tunes at the same time. In diesem Buch werde ich dich zeigen, dass es in der Tat viele andere Möglichkeiten gibt. Mit dem Quartventil kannst du: * Zwischen eine grössere Anzahl von Positionen wählen als auf einer Posaune ohne Quartventil * Die Töne zwischen großes E und den Pedalton (kontra B) spielen, und mehr Möglichkeiten haben, wenn du Pedaltöne spielst * Deine Atmung entwickeln, weil das tiefere Register mehr Luft erfordert * Das Spiel im oberen Register verbessern, weil ein guter Ton im tieferen Register mehr Arbeit mit dem Zentrieren erfordert * Das tiefere Register benutzen, um deinen Ansatz ”abzuwärmen” nach einem harten Übungstag. Viele der weltweit führenden Posaunisten empfehlen, im tieferen Register zu üben, und für mich persönlich hat es sich gelohnt. Ich habe auch viele Lieder und Übungen im Bassposaunenregister mit meinen Studenten mit guten Ergebnissen verwendet. Schöne Musik zu spielen, ist etwas, dass wir alle schätzen. Imagine that you are playing at the water’s edge. Give your low notes a dark blue or turquoise color. How about playing some of the B-flats in low 3rd position with the valve?
